Thinking about getting this router???
« on: August 08, 2013, 08:30:05 AM »

Hey guys I was thinking about getting this new router, I all ready have a netgear R6300v2, but since this is a gaming router, wanted to ask a few questions about it.

1. How many gaming consoles can it support, ( I have 4 of them )
2. Will I be able to put one of the consoles in the DMZ.
3. I have a 1900 ft sq home, how is the wifi range.
4. My other consoles are hooked up too a range extenders, since they are in other rooms.
5. Will the steam boost support all gaming consoles.
6. I have 10 wifi devices that are hooked up to my R6300 at the moment, I have no issues with wifi range, no matter if I am streaming movies, youtube, playing online, I still get my 50 down 5 up, no matter what time of day I run a sppedtest.
7. Can you port forward on this router?

Sorry for all the question but I have been reading alot of good and bad things about this router, that is why I am asking you guys. Since you all ready own this bad boy, what are your thoughts???

Thanks any input would be appreacated!

Hey guys I was thinking about getting this new router, I all ready have a netgear R6300v2, but since this is a gaming router, wanted to ask a few questions about it.

1. How many gaming consoles can it support, ( I have 4 of them ) I played w 5 last weekend. Still working on testing and configurations as I didn't get enough time to sit down and ensure NAT status was OPEN. Re-testing tomorrow.
2. Will I be able to put one of the consoles in the DMZ. Yes.
3. I have a 1900 ft sq home, how is the wifi range. Range is good in my 2200 sq ft home on 2.4Ghz.
4. My other consoles are hooked up too a range extenders, since they are in other rooms.
5. Will the steam boost support all gaming consoles. We presume so. I've only tested Xbox.
6. I have 10 wifi devices that are hooked up to my R6300 at the moment, I have no issues with wifi range, no matter if I am streaming movies, youtube, playing online, I still get my 50 down 5 up, no matter what time of day I run a sppedtest.

I have the SB 6120 and the 5500 works great on it. I will change to my SB 6180 modem and test soon.
