DNS or Slow Load or Qos?
« on: June 11, 2013, 05:22:51 PM »

I am noticing an issue with both of my Dir-868L's. I will be using chrome and open a website. It will take 30+ secs to load. Its hit and miss. Earlier I tried to load newegg and it took 1 min. Then once I am on the web site its fine. Gmail did the same thing. This is using a Hardwired connection, NOT wireless. My internet is 30-50 megs down. No one on but me.

Also I will load ebay in one chrome tab and load gmail in the next tab. Ebay will load fast while gmail will take 30-60 secs. Has anyone noticed this?

I might have to blame Kaspersky Internet Security 2013. I uninstalled it, I dont think it likes the d-link, lol.

Had similar issues but on my WIFI connection. Router reboot or just disconnect and connect back fixed it.
I also seems to have the issue when computer idle, but not sleeping overnight.

I'm using Avast, gust in case.

3rd Party Security Software Configurations
  • Turn off all anti virus and firewall programs on PC while testing. 3rd party firewalls are not generally needed when using routers as they are effective on blocking malicious inbound traffic.

It was Kaspersky. Moved to Bitdefender and everything was good. I think Kaspersky checks every link and send it up to them and back down. Kaspersky is a scrooge when it comes to bandwidth. Its takes for ever for virus def downloads. Let alone checking every web site.

I personally use McAfee Enterprise AV and Mal-ware Bytes for my systems.
