Configuring Cloud Router 2500 Channel(s)
« on: June 07, 2013, 03:44:12 PM »

Just bought this router.

Confused as to how to configure so I have simultaneous dual channels (2.4 GHz & 5 GHz), i.e. all 802.11/g devices connect to 2.54 GHz channel, all 802.11/n devices connect to 5 GHz channel.

On Page 38 of the Manual it shows how to configure for mixed devices (802.11b, 11g, 11n), but seems only to allow setting of channels 1 - 11 (i.e. 2.54 GHz). On Page 39 it shows how to configure for 802.11/n devices but only for 5 GHz channels.

Do I set both of these, one per Page 38 for my 802.11/g connectivity & one per Page 39 for 802.11/n connectivity?

Any advice appreciated. Thanks

For 2.4Ghz supporting devices, if you only need G modes then you can manually set the 2.4Ghz mode for G Mode Only. The channels 1-11 pertain only to the 2.4Ghz radio. You can leave the channel setting to auto or manually set them to 1, 6 or 11. This kind of depends if you have neighbors with other WiFi routers near by that maybe using one of the same channels. It's preferred to not have any one use the same channels as they cause interference problems if 2 or more WiFi routers use the same channel.

It's about the same for 5Ghz as you can set the Mode to Single N mode only. Channels are different however you can still set a manual channel if needed or just leave the Channel scan to Auto. I recommend auto. The thing with 5Ghz is that you need 5Ghz supporting client devices that can use and connect to the 5Ghz radio. Not all devices support 5Ghz radios, even if N mode it set, the devices need to support 5Ghz radio connections.

Check with your devices Mfr support sites for detailed information about what your devices support. If some of your devices don't support 5Ghz however they still support N mode, then set a Mixed G and N mode on the 2.4Ghz radio and you'll be good to go.
