5 GHz radio band
« on: August 07, 2010, 06:14:25 PM »

Hello.  Just like anyone here I am a noob!  I might respond  to many post on this forum, but still a network noob.  I know about the 2.4 GHz radio band.  It is pretty ambiguous.  You configure your SSID and password and you set it and forget it.  All your device most of the time work from that point.  I gripe is I want to know more about the 5 GHz radio band.

My misconception is that I thought it was like the 2.4Ghz band.  You know select your channel and have your SSID and password.  But it wasn't that easy.  When I ran a network analyzer, called InSSIDer by MetaGeek,  It couldn't find anyone there, let alone find my network that I've setup.  Could anyone help me with this problem I am having?

I am having trouble finding anything on Google to research on this topic.  Does anyone know of a website I could go to and read more on the subject?

Thanks in advance:)
