Too litte too late. I have a mint 343 with the lockup issue. I can't risk loosing my data in the upgrade. Buying a readynas today.

I think that it is a core hardware design problem intrinsic in the 343  and not solvable by a firmware upgrade, hence the lack of response regarding firmware.  I think that the moderator can't find a solution, and we are all buggered

Mine worked flawlessly for about a year, now i reboot it daily daily.   It has been completely protected with top of the line power protection etc..

You can have mine for $250. I am in Toronto Canada and will sell locally.  I wil also bet that same amount you won't see a firmware that fixes this problem in the next 6 months, if ever.

If you sell reliability you need to  have it. Nobody can wait a year to get their nas fixed. The need it the same week.

Readynas is up and running. Remotely access it through my IPad anywhere in the world, even streams mkv's. I can hook my USB drives into it.  Sweet as cherry pie.

Anybody wants the box, a 343, $250 takes it.

Well I was planning to release a firmware last week but I ran into a hiccup regarding ADS support and had to do some firmware regression. Also with last week being chinese new year nothing was going to get changed quickly. If the new build tests fine then we can approve it for official release. (yes I know that the current firmware has been out a while but there was some other major changes put in during that time). I would be happy to post the beta for those interested as soon as I have it.

I also would love to test the beta, particularly if it fixes the issue with streaming...

I highly doubt that 1.04 will ever be officially released and I doubt that we will ever even see an updated beta. The efforts of forum member D-Link Multimedia are much appreciated; however, it appears to be little more than good intentions.  It would be nice if D-Link officially supported their products rather that leaving customers to rely on the efforts of one person doing this as a side job in his spare time.

1.04 actually was already approved as an official release internally however I held off the approved version due to lack of 4k Drive support. As soon as it is re-approved with that addition it will go out.

How long are you looking at for these additional changes/re-approval?

D-Link just won the "HWZ Readers' Choice 2011 - Best NAS Brand" award. Yet, the DNS-343 product line has been a rough journey since its launch.
