Does the WBR-2310 support Syslog?
« on: March 03, 2008, 03:45:49 PM »

Does the WBR-2310 support sending errors and system messages to a server with a sysog daemon running?  I tried using the "SMTP Server / IP Address" field in the LOG FILES page under Tools, but nothing appears to be coming from the router on my log server. ???

Did you enter the correct address of the SMTP server that will be used to send the logs? You may Click on Send Mail Now to verify whether this feature is working or not. What is the hardware revision and firmware version of your router?  You can find this by looking at the bottom of the router, and checking the H/W ver: and F/W ver: section of the sticker located there. What I would suggest is upgrading the firmware. What is your public IP address from the Status tab?

Syslog != SMTP

This is for e-mailing yourself the logs in a proprietary clear text format not sending them to a syslog server.

In case of further confusion

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SNMP (for good measure and because I can almost see confusing SNMP traps with Syslog)
