Title: Obsolete versions still on some D-Link Support sites
Post by: ve3meo on June 13, 2014, 08:24:36 AM
I just went through an issue of a fresh download/install of Shareport Plus to a Win 8.1 tablet which could not connect to the printer on my DIR-835 router. I'm in Canada and got the download from  http://support.dlink.ca/ProductInfo.aspx?m=DIR-835  via the link to "Shareport Plus Utility (PC) (4.20)". Ultimately, Carlos of Support directed me to the page  http://support.dlink.com/ProductInfo.aspx?m=DIR-835 and the current version 4.30 (how was I to know there was this later one?). Problem solved.

Note that the links are identical except for .ca versus .com. Maybe there are other regional Dlink Support pages that have not been kept up-to-date.

I was on the verge of trying the Silex trick after much unnecessary fiddling and research. The time and stress wasted would have been saved if Dlink had kept its Canadian page abreast of its US page.

Link>Welcome! (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=48135.0)

You can find updated links here as well:
http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=50707.0 (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=50707.0)

Canada and U.S. are in the same region so you can use cross region SW and FW here as well.

It's best to notify D-Link CA of your concerns about issues you seen on the phone as support usually doesn't visit the forum often, if any.

Thanks for sharing and Enjoy.

Thanks.

I noticed that another unupdated location is one of the links you posted: ftp://ftp.dlink.com/ShareportPlus/

So much for version control...

I had told Carlos in Support about the outdated Canadian support page, but not this one.

You can always visit the forums or the U.S.A. web site for up to date information.

Good Luck and Enjoy.  ;)
