Title: Limited Portal Support for Chrome 79
Post by: GreenBay42 on December 02, 2019, 06:53:53 AM
From the mydlink team:

Chrome 79, scheduled to be released on Dec 10, will remove Native Client, which is essential for mydlink Portal to support D-Link products manufactured before 2018. As a result, mydlink Portal will not be able to support Chrome 79 for D-Link products such as DCS-932L, DCS-2530L and DIR-890L (full list below).

For these products, please use IE11 on computers running Windows, or Firefox 52 ESR (Windows, MacOS) on computers running Windows or MacOS. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Affected Products:

Is there any hope that the mydlink team will be able to update the mydink app to work with Safari 12 any time soon ?

It is always a balancing act with OS security updates and the ability to use the mydlink app.

Thanks in advance if anyone knows.

RK

PS  Dlink may force me to purchase a different manufacturers IP cam for all 6 cam locations if there is no update to work with the latest Safari v.12.

From what I gather, users will need to keep IE11 or FF ESR v52 loaded on a PC that will be backwards compatible for users with the model cameras listed in this thread. Going forward, from what I'm told, D-Link will not be making these model cameras compatible with newer versions of browsers or OS. The NPAPI based add-ons are what all newer browsers no longer support. These and the cameras FW would need to be updated on many levels.

Users may need to look into newer model cameras that are more supportive of newer browsers and OS systems if there older cameras are not working or accessible thru browsers and the portal.

Good Luck.

Does Pale Moon work?

I'm never going to buy another DLINK product again. They left us hanging. What are we supposed to do? Not upgrade our browsers so we can keep using a product that DLINK ditched us on for support. To be frank, I see Ring, Wyze and Arlo Netgear as being far more popular these days. Karma is a m f.

W10 seems to have IE 11 built in folks and the portal does work. Still BS that it doesnt work with Chrome.

Some might give this web browser a try to see if this works with D-Link cameras and the portal as a alternative web browser solution:
