Title: WiFi SSID Still Broadcasting with Schedule set...
Post by: FurryNutz on October 21, 2018, 12:57:07 PM
I posted something about this for the COVR-2200 however it differs a bit on the 1203.
Looking to find out what the expected behavior of the 1203 schedule enabled for WiFI, nothing highlighted with in the schedule, which from what I'm seeing, seems to not disable anything for the schedule. I applied the schedule to the wifi settings and I presume this would disable the wifi radios on the 1203? What i'm seeing is when I apply this to the WiFi, the radios are still broadcasting.

Now when I highlight all sections of the schedule, save and apply, the wifi radios are disabled and I don't see the SSIDs anymore however I see one signal, unnamed on the scanner. Channel 9 appears for a few minutes, then it seems to disappear then comes back. I looked at the mac address and it's B4:B2 and looking at the sticker on the Point A router, the Mac is B4:B0 so I presume this unnamed ssid is coming from the Point A router.

Can you post a screen shot of your schedule settings?

I will when I get home this evening. For now, I've tired with nothing selected in the schedule settings and with EVERYTHING selected in the settings. So if someone there wants to test this, just try both methods...

The dark BLUE unknown SSID signal on channel 9 is what I'm seeing from the COVR systems when schedule seems to be enabled and set to disable wifi.

Has this issue been resolved? What is the verdict? I absolutely want a mesh (like) WiFi system that I can turn off at night. I can't find this information about the COVR-P2502.

I haven't heard any thing yet. I'll check up on this.
2502 seems to be a EU product:

You are right about an EU product. I'm Dutch. I studied the manual and it only says in the cahpter "Management Time & Schedule Time" "Some extender functions can be controlled through a pre-configured schedule", nothing about which functions. I somewhere see "parental control rules", but those I couldn't care less about.

I wonder if USA versions maybe are the same.

Thank you. Please have them check ALL COVR systems if possible. The schedule problem may cover more products.

I requested techs to test this but haven't heard back. I will check.

Can you connect to the network?

That is most likely the back haul broadcasting.

Yes I can access the network and internet.

No, the mains are broadcasting. Both 2.4 and 5Ghz SSIDs are seen.

Can you connect to the network?

That is most likely the back haul broadcasting.

We tested it here on older firmware and found that the extender still broadcasts and allows to connect. The "router" unit still broadcasts the back haul so you are seeing it from the extender which apparently they didn't fix with the latest beta  ::)

They are updating to the latest beta and will test right now.

No, I'm seeing it on the A point. I don't have any extenders powered on or connected.  ;D

Com on can’t be that bad. Lol

Well i may have mentioned this for the 2200 as well.
Overall I presume this feature is global for all products so it should be tested fully for all.

No comment  :-X

We will definitely test the COVR units. Have you tried it on the 3902?

RabanePaco,
Unfortunately I do not have a P2502 to test since it is a non-USA product but I will check the global ticket system to see if anyone has reported the issue.

Can’t test the 3902. On loan to LTBroden. You might ask DaveVT to test his.

My 3902 does NOT show a SSID when schedule is set to wireless off.

Still not working with v1.07 FW loaded.  :-\

I tested a wired PC, Mac Book Pro and iPhone both wireless first. Had internet for all.
I then set up a schedule and left the entire space un-marked. Saved settings then applied the schedule to the Wireless settings. I noticed that both Mac Book and iphone lost internet and the SSID disappeared. I re-enabled wifi under the schedule with just highlighting the entire row for Tuesday. Applied the setting and about several seconds, the SSID re-appeared on the iPhone and Mac Book. I removed the highlighted row for Tuesday and saved the setting. The SSID disappeared from the iPhone and Mac Book. I do noticed that this only seems to hid the SSID from wireless devices and there is still a un named SSID broadcast emanating from the 1203. Wired PC had internet throughout all schedule configuration testing.

I guess since I updated to v1.07 with out a factory reset initially that my first test on this was inaccurate. I'll mark this as working.

The unnamed signal is the back haul. Thanks for testing.

I believe it's the main signal and not back haul as I only see the SSID name disappear from the signal. If I disable the schedule, then the SSID name appears back over the signal. ???

The unnamed signal is the back haul. Thanks for testing.
