Just got the D3 Extreme here in Miamisburg,Ohio. Paired with the DGL-4500 , I had to disable the onboard router in the modem to get it to work.Also, I Had the best Tech come out and run a new line to the tap "in the backyard" DL speeds are great at 30m But my Upstream is only 2.66 and should be 5megs?? Not sure why, does anybody know? Also, how many channels should be Bonding on the DL and UL? I see 3 for DL and only 1 for Up? is this right? "buddy has it in denver and he bonds 4 down and 2 up" Thanks for any help.

Have you set a manual speed connection in GameFuel to match you DL and UP speeds your ISP as set? Looking at this new modem from Motorola and the 4500 router. I wonder if the 4500 router can handle the faster upload speeds? I wonder if the ISP Upload is maxing out the 4500. What is the speed of the upload if you don't have the 4500 inline? I presume it might be at 5Mb up with out the 4500 inline. I notice that the max manual you can select is 2048 up. Let us know what you find out.

ok. I set the upload on the 4500 to Auto and it shows 2872. to answer your question, my friend has the SBG6120 and the 4500. Also set to Auto and it reads up in the 8000's as he has a faster tier "50 down 8up" in Denver. So , the 4500 does reads it.Also, I get the same 2.65-2.75up running just the modem to PC. the Down stays at 30.55 almost every test. on a side note, I walked with the tech doing the whole new line run to the tap and it was an excellent job with perfect db's and snr.so I know it's not a line issue. however, I do only see 3 channels bonded on DL and 1 on UL.I don't know how many it should be , but my friend in Denver shows 4 bonded on DL and 2 "I belive" on Up"have to dbl check that."

If your getting the same speed indicated with out the 4500 inline then I would presume that the modem isn't bonding correctly.

You should be bonding with 3 at least. If your not then something else is going on up the line from the cable modem? Is the new cable modem fully supported by your ISP?

I know the SB 6120 was not for while. I prematurely bought the modem in March or April and tried it. I would not connect at all. Then I noticed finally, that it was supported on there web site. I went and bought it again and it connected however it didn't bond right of the bat. It took a couple of days or a week before I noticed it was bonding and I had a blue light on. The guys in the forum said that this should get 3 bonds in the modems logs and you'll be getting high performance.

What are the cable modem logs reporting?

It sounds like there isn't any speed limits on the 4500 as your friend seems to get 8mb Up. That's good to hear. How long have you had the cable modem online? You might give it a few days or a week for the entire system to be worked out and your ISP might push a FW update to the modem and then you might see the bonding that it should be doing. They did this to mine and it's working now.

My ISP "TWC" Brought the Modem to me. And this was just Two days ago.and they just launched D3 Three Days Ago.I do see 3 Channels bonding on the DL and none Bonding on the Upload.I do have one Blue Light that is Always Lit after Boot.

If the logs and status isn't showing any bonding on the cable modem then there I presume there is something going on with it or up the line to the ISP.

Looks like there is an issue with the Upstream bonding man. I would call and ask the tech at the ISP and see if they can figure this out. Let us know how it goes. Seems like your just about there. LOL.

To my knowledge no ISP is bonding on the upstream yet and very few are bonding more then 3 channels on the downstream. The best place to ask to be sure is here If your getting those speeds direct to the modem, then there is nothing in the router you can do to improve it. The best a router can do is make it seem like the router isn't even there, it can never make it better then a direct connection. If your signal levels are good, your node is probably just over sold. Happens a lot. Check at like 3AM and I bet your speed will increase. The only thing you can do to improve it is try to maybe get your Upstream to 45/46 and see if that puts you on another Channel ID with less use. Channel ID is a specified segment of bandwidth that the CMTS (your ISP's computer) puts you on based on a number of factors including signal levels. Other then that, all you can do is wait/hope until they increase the capacity to people ratio in your area, which is not done very often.

::Edit:: It might not hurt to get one of the Rep's to look at your firmware too. Since its a modem/router combo, they are always slow to come down the pipe and they may need to push it to you. Firmware for those units are slow to come out too though, so I wouldn't be surprised if there wasn't one.

Mint, could you do me a favor? Helping someone else with their SB6580 and their on the same ISP as you but getting some latency(200+) via a wired connection. 200ms at the first hop. But awesome throughput. Could you perform this test to see if the problem is across the board and possible non problematic?

Start > All Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt > tracert google.com

And just tell me what the latency (ms) is for the first couple of hops? No IP's or anything are needed. Thanks

I will look over your problem again. Helping someone who is getting high latency and packet loss. After some testing though were finding packet loss and latency (500ms+) from the gateway out, so thats all ISP.

BTW, do you lease? And did you have them put it in bridge mode? You may have said you had already, I will reread and edit.
