DIR-655 and Apple WiFi "G"
« on: December 01, 2007, 05:32:38 PM »

Hello all

I am having a weird issue and like to see if anyone else is seeing this:

I have a DIR-655 within a central location in my house with rev 1.10.  It's set to mixed mode b-g-n.  Here is what I have connected Wireless (alot I know)

-IBM laptop -- G
-IBM laptop -- B
-Nintnedo WII -- G
-OQO UMPC -- G
-Apple IPod Touch -- G
-Apple TV -N
-Apple Intel Imac -- N
-Apple Mac Mini -- G
-Apple Imac PPC -- G

All clients have GREAT signal and thruput except the Apple "g" clients the IMac and Mini - they run at 5-25% and LOW throughput.  The funny thing is those are the closest to the router??? The only thing that is consistant is APPLE and G.

Any Ideas?  Dlink support????

Thanks,

-G

Can you please list the changes in the router's configuration have already been tried? This would ensure that our suggestions are not redundant.

To clairfy:

Are you saying the Apple IPOD Touch (that is Apple and G), does or does NOT have the connection problems of the IMac and Mac Mini?

I own an iPhone, same radio as the touch. No issues here, and I'm running mixed mode WPA2Auto.
P.S. Dope Phone.

I have tried removing the only "b" and go G and N -- still same issue.  The configuration is pretty standard although I am using WEP - 128.

The Ipod touch actually works fine it's just the PPC IMac and the Intel Mini that are giving me problems.

Thanks in advance for your input.

Can you try some version WPA that is available on all the devices? Can you also try w/o encryption to verify some level of connectivity?

802.11n products are not going to include WEP again at some point. You may just want to create another WLAN with a G router that supports your G only Apple products.

You may also want to try locking down the Channel Width to 20 MHz if it is set to Auto 20/40 MHz.

If that does not work, I do know that some b/g cards/devices do not play well with the N signal. You may want to try to lock down to 802.11b/g only, just for testing.

Upgrading to the newer 1.11 Firmware is adviseable as well.
