DCS-942L Keeps going offline Wifi
« on: April 19, 2012, 03:59:12 AM »

I have 3 DCS cameras on my network all setup WiFi

2 are DCS-932L and 1 DCS-942L

The DCS942 (which is right near but facing the other direction) is about 2 meters away from one of the 932's but the 942 keeps going offline - it comes back on and off probably 4-5 time during a 24hr period.

This is most frustrating - it would look like Wifi signal strength could be the issue but the other 932 right near it doesn't have this issue?

Any suggestions?

Many Tks - Frosty

My 942L camera cannot operate in wifi mode (red LED)  if I put it to far away from a router(low signal).  I have two 942L cameras and test them wifi together, under the same location, router show one 942L camera has transfer rate (Mbps) and signal(%)  in half of my second 942L camera. Even 942L support 802.11n mode, it operate low wifi performance  compare to my DCS-2121 camera (802.11g). I have test a third 2121 camera together with the two 942L camera. In conclusion, 942L camera will need some firmware improvement for wifi driver.

Ive been having the same problem with 942l cameras.  I tried installing a few 942s and 1 5222l for a client of mine.  They all connected for a while but the 942s dropped.  Ive been installing CCTV and IP cameras for a while now and have been through dozens of problems regarding IP cameras.  Basically in this clients case the cameras worked perfectly fine with the ethernet cable but if I tried connecting them wirelessly they would seldom work.  For those that dont know already: You should

1. Make sure you configured the wireless setup in the wizard
2. Reserve your IP cameras IP adress in your router

After a few hard resets, changing encryption type on router, disconnecting other cameras and dhcp clients.  I came to the conclusion that it is the bandwith.  I connected the same camera someone else´s router and it worked perfectly.  I recently minimized the cameras resolution and frames per second to see if that helps.

Anyways hope this info helped someone out there.
