DGS-1100-05PD - Achiving 18W PoE Passthrough
« on: June 21, 2019, 12:06:53 AM »

The switch supports custom PoE Power Limit and 18W overall budget.

However, both ports can be enabled only when configured as Class 1 or Class 2 (per the data sheet).

Could the firmware be adjusted to enable both ports when combined configured limit is less than 18W? i.e. Class 2 on one port and custom for the remainder on the other.

In my case I have two devices reporting class 0 and the 18W is plenty, but one device needs 8W peak. So 7W and 11W would be a perfect configuration for me.

Quick update for the benefit of the search.

  • There is a bug in B031 that prevents more than one port being used if the power output mW is configured manually, fixed in B033
  • The switch can provide 18W on one port when manually configured to do so.
  • The switch reserves 15.4W for any port configured with more than 7W, therefore, only one port can be powered on if more than 7W is configured.

As always, D-Link support are super helpful, but it seems hardware limitation prevents the use of more than 14W when both ports are powered.

Thank you for your feed back. Glad D-Link was able to help solve this.
Keep in touch with them if other issues appear.

Hi there. It seems I'm stuck with the same problem.
You mentioned that there is a bug in firmware B031 but was fixed in B033.
Where did you get version B033 from?
I couldn't find if for my 05PD model on Dlink support site and not in ftp.
I would really appreciate your help!

I recommend that you phone contact your regional D-Link support office and ask for help and information regarding this.

We find that phone contact has better immediate results over using email.

Your answer is appreciated but a bit strange if I might say.
I mean if there is a bug in the firmware, why is the fix "hidden" from the consumers?

Why do I need to contact tech support just to get a firmware version (that allready exists) that fixes a bug?
I would expect that this would be availabe on Dlink's support sites. I don't think this has anything to do with region.

Please make this bug fix publicly available (at least put it in Dlinks public FTP servers).
This issue really limits the device's usability and I have spent alot of time trying to get my two POE devices to worth with this switch. Even though in total, the two devices don't need more than 18 watts, I am unable to configure it properly with current firmwares available.

Thanks.

Not sure why D-Link hasn't released new FW. Possibly due to worldly events happening over past few months. This is something we can't handle here in the forums so this needs to be handed by D-Link support. Thus you should make contact with them to get this resolved.

Good Luck.

I searched D-Link's global ticket system and did not find B033 for the 1100-5PD (I do for the 8PD but they are not compatible). I am not sure where the other user got it from.

A lot of firmware is regional depending on the device. Switches generally have a Russian version and a world wide version.

If you are in the US, call 1-877-354-6555 (m-f 6am-6pm pacific) and refer them to this forum thread. They can create a ticket to ask where this firmware can be found.

What hardware revision is it?

Hi,
I have a similar problem with PoE two ports of DGS-1100-05PD. Support D-Link can't do that to me. I sent you a private message. Could you answer it to me?
