Hi all.  I have some strange activity i believe with my router and feel that something is out of the norm.  If someone can, please view and let me know.

The only thing that looks out of the norm to me is the router is having trouble with IPv6. If you don't use it, disable it. If you do, how is it configured? Also might want to check this link from DSLR about Cogeco IPv6.

  • What Hardware version is your router? Look at sticker under the router case.
  • Link>What Firmware version is currently loaded? Found on the routers web page under status.
  • What region are you located?

Internet Service Provider and Modem Configurations
  • What ISP Service do you have? Cable or DSL?
  • What ISP Modem Mfr. and model # do you have?

Yes, that's IPv6 negotiation traffic. If you don't use IPv6 then disable it and you won't see that in the logs anymore. If you do use it, is it working correctly? If so, ignore the log.

If you disable IPv6 on the router, also disable in on any Windows or Mac PCs.

Well my boy has been having to reboot the router every time his xbox one reconnects and i think that is the only 5ghz capable device.  I did disabled that but he hasn't tried it since so I'll update that aspect when i know.  Now looking though and having a basic understanding of wireless and technology having been educated as an electronic technician my router appears to be logging what i feel is very unique activities, no?

Let us know if diabling IPv6 on the router helps.

Does your ISP support native IPv6 on there sytem? If not, it's not needed on the router or for xbox gaming.

That could be the problem. Xbox One uses IPv6 by default. Try turining that off. If you need it, who is your ISP and do they provide working IPv6? See link here for more info from Microsoft about Xbox One, including how to disable IPv6.

Well i set ipv6 to local only and it solved the need to reboot the router for his Xbox to reconnect. 
Which is nice but the entries in the sys log appear pretty creepy to me.  Unnecessary for router activity i have to say.
