« on: January 24, 2016, 07:44:42 AM »

is there any way to only allow access to the web at certain times?

for example  Wednesday night from 7:00pm to 10:00 pm I want to allow open access to the web
no other access

I do have other times that I want to allow access but that if the first example

You would want to set up a access control rule. First, create a schedule.  From UI Tools > Schedules. Then create a Access Control rule. From UI Advanced > Access Control > Enable Access Control.  Apple the schedule to rule as you go through the Access Control Wizard. See page 75-77 of manual for more info.

I am not trying to restrict them to only a few sites

I want to all anyone to go anywhere using the access point but only during the allowed times

this is for a church and I am trying to set up a guest access point for visitors during services

when a vistor comes in they can connect to the guest access point and browse the web  but only during allowed times
that way I do not have to turn off and turn on the access points but can leave them running but neighbors do not have free web access

any suggestions on how I can do this

thanks

Here some inf o I have about Blocking:
Router Access Control, Blocking, Web Filters and Scheduling FAQ
To set up scheduling:
1. Reserve device IP addresses ON the router under Setup/Networking.
2. Set up a schedule under Tools/Schedule on the routers web page. Customize your dates and times here.
3. Use Advanced/Access Control configured and apply the customized schedule to a policy and to the PC(s) or device(s) desired to be controlled.
4. Ensure Time is set correctly on the router. Tools/Time.

I do believe Setup/Networking/DNS Relay and or Setup/Internet/Manual/Advanced DNS Services need to be enabled along with configuring Reserved IP addresses, Scheduling, and Access Controls.

Is this router used at home or at a business?
Do you have a set of known connected devices? Or do you let any one connect?
Have you tried maybe setting a wireless schedule to have the wireless radios turn off at night then back on in the morning?

I want to all anyone to go anywhere using the access point but only during the allowed times

Then you would do as I suggested, but choose "Block All Access" at step 4 and set the schedule for the time frame you DON'T want them to get online.

this is for a church and I am trying to set up a guest access point for visitors during services

Are you using the router and internet for personal use too? Or will the router be connected to a isolated internet source? I ask because the router also has a Guest Zone.

I am using two dlink 810l
one at the north side and the other on the south side
they are only to give web access
I have 3 time frames that need to be set up
sun  8:30 to 11:30 am
sun   5:30 pm to 7:30 pm
wed  7:00 pm to 9:00 pm

all other times no access
no one needs to connect to the internal network

if I try the deny access I guess the schedules would be
deny
sun 11:30am to 5:30 pm
sun 7:30pm to wed 7:00pm
wed 9:00 pm to sun:8:30 am

that right?
