"Unable to connect Mydlink."
« on: August 14, 2013, 08:53:42 AM »

I recently purchased a DIR-868L and using the router in PPPoE mode with a Motorola 3360 DSL modem that is set to bridged mode.  Internet is working fine on all hosts within the LAN.

Upon attempting to register mydlink service via SETUP->MYDLINK SETTINGS->"Register mydlink Service" I receive a popup dialog box titled: "The page at 192.168.0.1 says:" with the message "Unable to connect Mydlink."  I receive this message during both the Internet setup wizard process, as well as when clicking on the link via SETUP->MYDLINK SETTINGS->"Register mydlink Service"

I sent an email to "support" and received a reply to attempt to use a gmail account (which I am), and reset the router (which I have - AND updated to the latest firmware v1.02 as well).  I attempted to login/reset password with my gmail address at www.mydlink.com just to make sure I didn't already have an account setup, and the site reports my email address is not registered.

Is anybody else having this problem?  Does anybody know an alternate way to register mydlink service for the DIR-868L???

Link>Welcome!
  • What region are you located?

You need to registar a valid email address at the mydlink.com site first. Once you ensure that the site is registered, and you can access the site, then go in and register your account with the router.

Ensure that your PC is up to date with Java. [/list]

Hello FurryNutz - thank you for the welcome.  I am located in United States.

>You need to registar a valid email address at the mydlink.com site first. Once you ensure that the site is registered, and you can access the site, then go in and register your account with the router.

When you go to mydlink.com and click on "Not Registered?" you are taken to this page: https://www.mydlink.com/content/notreg  which states the only way to register is via the mydlink-enabled product supplied link.

However - you NAILED the solution in the second part of your post.  I'm configuring this new router from a freshly installed copy of Win 7 Ultimate - which did not have Java installed.  I installed Java and the registration was accepted.  Thank you sir.
