DAP 1360 firmware failed
« on: December 16, 2017, 10:53:27 AM »

Hi,

I have a new DAP 1360 HW Version F1
I upacked it and configured it as a Wireless client, had it connected to my WiFi network and working perfectly in just a few minutes.

As a last step I thought I would update the firmware as the one installed was about 12 months old. The firmware upgrade appeared to work OK but after I upgraded it I can no longer connect to the Setup/Admin web page. I just get 'Server not found' or something similar.

I tried manually configuring my Ethernet adapter to set a fixed IP address (192.168.0.50) but even with that I still can't connect to the AP.

I really REALLY wish I had not bothered with the FW upgrade!!!

I have tried holding the reset button for anything between 5 seconds and 30 seconds but nothing seems to make much difference.

When I power it on the Ethernet light comes on as does the WiFi light so I think it is connecting to my WiFi network still but no way of knowing for sure.

I have no idea where I go from here??? If I can't connect to it then I might as well throw it in the trash can - shame considering it is brand new!

Any suggestions how I can either downgrade the FW or connect to it to configure it??

Thanks
Glenn

Hi,

Try setting a static IP address of the PC adapter to 192.168.0.49. Usually .50 is used for most D-Link APs.
Do a factory reset on the DAP then do a ping 192.168.0.50 from a command line and see if you get a return. If you do, then try accessing the DAPs UI at 192.168.0.50.

What browser are you using to update the FW? I recommend only using IE11 or FF browsers. Chrome has been known to cause problems.

Hi,

I set my local IP address to 192.168.0.49 and pinged the DAP and it did reply so I was able to connect to the unit by browsing to 192.168.0.50.
I configured it again as a Wireless client and it seemed success full but when I set my PC back to DHCP it could not identify it's self on the network.

So, I thought I would go through it again, so I pressed the reset button for about 10 seconds and the DAP appeared to reboot. But now even with a manual local IP address of 192.168.0.49 I cannot connect tot he DAP and PING no longer works!!

The output from Command prompt is:

C:\Users\Glenn Needham>ping 192.168.0.50

Pinging 192.168.0.50 with 32 bytes of data:
Reply from 192.168.0.49: Destination host unreachable.
Reply from 192.168.0.49: Destination host unreachable.
Reply from 192.168.0.49: Destination host unreachable.
Reply from 192.168.0.49: Destination host unreachable.

Ping statistics for 192.168.0.50:
    Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss),

Also, even though I have reset the DAP back to factory defaults I notice the WiFi LED is on solid - is this showing me that it is connected to our WiFi? if so then the restore factory defaults cannot have worked?

Thanks

OK, so I have made some progress.......
I managed to check the DHCP server on my main router and found it had provided the DAP with an IP address so by going to that IP while connected to the WiFi I can access the unit.

So, it is obviously correctly connected to my WiFi.

I have set the mode to Wireless Client, in LAN settings Dynamic IP is chosen (the default)
When I turn off my PC wifi and then plug a cable into the DAP the network connection says "identifying....." and never says connected so it seems the DAP is not connecting the ethernet port on to my network.

This is such a massive disappointment as it worked perfectly when I first configured it and all this trouble has been caused by me thinking that the right thing to do would be to upgrade to the latest firmware!!!

A little more information....
I went to your website and downloaded what purported to be F1 Firmware V6.08 to try and downgrade, when I clicked on the link I actually got 6.09FW which when loaded on to the DAP the DAP reports it as being 6.10?????? - no wonder I am confused!!

Anyway, with 6.08/6.09/6.10 FW it is still the same, I can connect to it wirelessly and configure it as a Wireless client but when I plug the ethernet cable into my laptop the network connection just reports "identifying...." and nothing more

All in all absolute rubbish - I seriously hope I can get my money back!

I recommend you take the unit back to place of purchase or phone contact your regional D-Link support office.
