I have been away from my home and router for 9 months and when I connected to the router via WiFi from my desktop I was prompted to update the firmware. So, naturally, I said sure! However, after the process seemed to take I checked the router and it will only flash the amber power LED. Only after I started searching online did I read you're not supposed to update via WiFi as it can cause equipment failure. That would have been a relevant warning to put in with the prompt that asked me to update. What now? It won't turn on or respond to any number of power cycles or factory resets.

It's never recommended to upgrade any router wil using the Wifi connection. Please use hard LAN wired connections always using the following process:

Please follow this to recover the router:

Surgery was successful. Thank you very much for your help. I was afraid I had a $200 paper weight.
