Title: Gave 1.11 a try over the weekend.
Post by: hjohan13 on November 21, 2016, 09:51:08 PM
Gave 1.11 a try over the weekend. Just disconnects like 1.10.  Back to 1.09 and it works fine. Hooked up my ASUS AC-5300 yesterday again. The ASUS is rock solid. Just don't understand why I bought this D-link.....(It was because of the nice parent control feature)....I still can't use the feature I bought it for.....

Please refrain from using vulgarity in the forums. I understand your frustrations however it doesn't help anything and only makes things worse.

Please give more details of how the 890L is configured when you have v1.11 loaded. is SC enabled? Test the router with SC disabled?
What devices are experiencing this supposed disconnects?
What are you doing when this disconnects are happening?
How many devices do you have connected at one time to the router?
Did you load the v1.11 FW manually as the process is seen here and not load any saved configuration files afterwards? Link> >FW Update Process (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=42457.0)

Aside the other users Roku 4 issue, v1.11 seems stable and works well for me. I don't have a roku 4 so I can't explain that fully. There maybe a wifi or SC driver compatibility issue there.

We need to know more information to see if we can help you more to figure out whats going on. If you feel the router is at fault then phone contact D-Link support and by all means, get an RMA unit in place while your under warranty for crist sake and see if a new unit resolves this or not.

Since your from the Sweden (EU) region, you should be loading what is the latest from this location:
http://www.dlink.com/se/sv/support/product/dir-890l-ac3200-ultra-wifi-router (http://www.dlink.com/se/sv/support/product/dir-890l-ac3200-ultra-wifi-router)
There maybe differences between the EU and NA regions which maybe causing problems. I recommend that you load what is available here. If you still seem to experience problems with the 890L, I recommend that you phone contact your regional D-Link support office and ask for help and information regarding this. We find that phone contact has better immediate results over using email.

I tried a 5300 last month...I sent it back is all I can say.  :-*

Sorry for beeing upset...just the feeling when you have spent a lot of money on something that really doesn't meet the expectations.

- During update I always do a factory reset to make sure nothing old  is disturbing. And always hardwired
- I never backup any  saved configurations...always from scratch
- SC is always disable. I understand the meaning of it, bur never got it to work in real life, Not even on the AC-5300.
- I (we in our family) have approx. 30 devices connected. Phones, pads, laptops, computers, ) (2 adults and 3 children)  15 on wifi and 15 on wire
- Downloaded file from: ftp://ftp.dlink.eu/Products/dir/dir-890l/driver_software/

The wired devices seems to be OK, but the wifi devices just cuts out several times / week...just like that.....normal surfing. Anything from reading the local newspaper to doing schoolwork.

Sorry about your 5300. Guess you never tried: http://www.mediafire.com/asuswrt-merlin/

I understand the frustrations, my experiences with D-Link routers and other Mfr is not perfect. I know where your coming from.  ???

I'd like you to try SC enabled next time if you get a chance. I have it enabled on mine and it's been working find for me

I have about 20-25 devices, however maybe 10 are wired and using Reserved IP addresses, and the others like printers, controllers, cameras, and NAS are using static IP addressing. My other iPhones, iPad, Mac Book Pro, 933L camera and iMac are wireless with reserved IPs. I have 2 XB1s connected as well however wired. This is something you may want to try on your router as well. For devices that don't need much router management, set a static IP address ON the device. Used reserved for devices that need management controls or scheduling.

What other wifi signals are around you? How many? Can you post a capture of whats around you?
What are the wireless devices all doing when the disconnects happen? Steaming, surfing?

*Both OEM and Merlin FW were tested. 6 Minute reboot time was horrid. Also QoS engine was broke at the time I tested as well. I may try another over the holidays. We'll see.

Just trying to help figure this all out and narrow down where the problem maybe and if at all possible, help get it working right so you can enjoy the router is all.

I recommend starting with just a few wireless device this time. Then graduate adding more. Do some reservations on devices that need router management, static ON devices that don't.

What is the ISP modem Mfr and model?

Keep us posted.

Connected to ISP: Telia on fiber 250/100Mbit. Modem just as a splitter to make TV and home-phone working. Internet does really not need a modem at all.
Could just in theory connect Router directly to fiber outlet.

Does this Fiber unit have multiple LAN ports or just one?

Just 1 port....My 890 worked well last night and this morning....looks promising...However, Only 1 thing that  I can't get working...I can not connect it to my phone-app  Mydlink+ (Worked before with 1.09)
I can see my router on my app...but not select it.  Loggied in via PC at work tells me that the router is not connected to internet....
What am I missing...???

Does your modem have a built in router by chance?

Did you set a Admin log in PW then re-associate the router with the MDL service?

I'm currently using v1.11 with SC enabled and all of my devices including the newly added wireless bridges for my DISH TV Joeys are working flawlessly.

The only thing I can maybe see is that there is an issue with the Samsung device maybe and this version of FW. Your regional D-Link support office needs to review this and see if there is any more information regarding this.

I recommend that you phone contact your regional D-Link support office and ask for help and information regarding this. We find that phone contact has better immediate results over using email. Reference this forum thread please...
Let us know how it goes please.

24 hours without any disconnects...nice.....however the router is impossible to connect to my d-link account....

I'll have to change my 890L from AP mode to Router mode and see if I see the same thing. I'm wondering if there is a MDL service issue. We are seeing problems with the DNR-202L and it going off line with the MDL service.

When using the latest file (20161110) it is totally impossible to use "mydilnk". Also lost connection with my PC last night. Had to reboot the router
Going back to the older file it all works like a charm.
Now only the time will tell about the durability of the system ;-)

Still don't like SC....Had to disable that....

Seems like they may have a bug in the 11-10-2016 version file. Something I recommend that you contact your regional D-Link support office and make them aware of it.

Were both of these files on there site or FTP?

What don't you like about SC? Does it not work or just preference?

On FTP:     See Link:   ftp://ftp.dlink.eu/Products/dir/dir-890l/driver_software/

Regarding SC: Due to the layout on our flat some channels perform really bad in the master bedroom samt our youngest sons bedroom.  By disabling SC I can manually choose the best channels for both 2.4 and 5GHz. Also channel 10 and 11 works really bad on my daughters school laptop.

Does channel 13 work for you?

Please contact your regional D-Link support office and notify them of these files and differences your seeing. Reference this forum thread as well.

Hi again

Tried channel 13 late last night and this morning. Works, but is approx 8 - 10 db weaker signal. Back to CH 6 which work absolutly best in our flat.

Any direct link to the European support that you wanted me to report back to?

I would phont contact either the EU or Swedish office...

I'm wondering if there is a SC issue when it's enabled vs when it's disabled...  :o

Hi Furry.

You really seems like a guy who wants to help and being nice.....

Sorry....yesterday afternoon I disconnected twice when my son was playing Minecraft.....boy he was upset....later last night also me reading Facebook...
......and now this morning me reading the newspapers before going to work....that's at least 4 times last 24 hours that I know of....

For a router at that cost, and a company at that size....totally unacceptable....I really tried to give it 1 more last change.

My ASUS AC5300 goes back when I'm back from work...It doesn't have all the parental settings....but at least it is rock solid 24/7.

Thankyou D-Link

Ok. Please let your regional D-Link support know.
I'll work on letting our region know about this as well.

Thank you.
