Using an OSX Server as NAS for Recording
« on: December 21, 2013, 08:53:03 AM »

I am trying to set up my Dlink Cameras (6010L) to use a shared folder on my Mac OSX Server as a Network storage location, however the setup guide includes virtually no useful information on how to setup network storage

1.  Network Storage location. for example:\\my_nas\disk\folder
OK.  Hmm.  So   Why is it \ instead of /?
Does the sharepoint start with :\\ or \\?

So what does it really need here?  If my computer name is Server and the share point is /Data/Video
would I enter :\\Server\Data\Video
or would it prefer an IP address like :\\192.168.1.2\Data\Video

Can you instead format it like smb://192.168.1.2?

2.  Workgroup.  Is this required?  I can assign the OSX server to a workgroup if needed.

3.  Primary WINS Server.  Is this required?  I don't have one.  Don't know what this is.  Sounds like a windows thing.  Don't really want one...

Thanks!
