Title: DIR 655 B1 FW 2.09 Internet connection lost after a day
Post by: daviddemey on February 05, 2015, 02:54:10 AM
Hi,

I have to reset my router on a daily basis as I can't connect to the internet anymore. This has happened after upgrading to FW2.09, before I only needed to reset once every 2 months, does anybody know how to resolve this?

Regards

David

Did you follow the recommended steps with flashing firmware? They seem excessive when you read them, but are for good reason.
In a nutshell, save config file, reset router to factory, flash new firmware, again reset to factory, then set up from scratch (preferred) or use your saved config file.
Good luck.

Hi,

Yes followed the flow, first restored the config file, but afterwards did a full reset, and reconfigured from scratch. Didn't help.
Should I try to reflash the router?

Placement on main level floor and central in the building and WELL ventilated is preferred. Not in basements or closets as building materials, or near by electronics devices could interfere or hinder good signal propagation.

Hi,

See responses inline

What region are you located? -->Belgium
Are you wired or wireless connected to the router? --> Wired
Was a Factory Reset performed before and after any firmware updates then set up from scratch? no only after, as it was not working
>FW Update Process
Was the router working before any firmware updates? --> yes, but I had to reset every 1 or 2 months for the same problem

Internet Service Provider and Modem Configurations
What ISP Service do you have? Cable or DSL? --> Cable
What ISP Modem Mfr. and model # do you have? --> CBN SVG6540E
Is ISP Modem/Service using Dynamic or Static WAN IP addressing? --> Static, the modem is also a DHCP router, but I am not using it for my home
What ISP Modem service link speeds UP and Down do you have? -->  Down 160 Mbps, up 10 Mbps
Check cable between Modem and Router, swap out to be sure. Link> Cat6 is recommended. --> allready replaced
Check ISP MTU requirements, Cable is usually 1500, DSL is around 1492 down to 1472. Call the ISP and ask. Link>Checking MTU Values --> 1500, but if I connect straight to the modem/router from my provider, everything is working fine, so i am sure the problem is with the Dir

Router and Wired Configurations
Some things to try: - Log into the routers web page at 192.168.0.1. Use IE, Opera or FF to manage the router. Besure to log into the Admin account on the router.
