Can't access the set-up page on my DAP-1525
« on: July 08, 2012, 01:05:14 PM »

All of a sudden, I can't access the set-up web page for my DAP-1525.  I have it connected via ethernet cable directly to my computer.  I have it set to be an AP, at 2.5Ghz.  I've tried this web address:  http://192.168.0.50/setup.php, and it just times out.  I've unplugged it, and pressed the reset button.  Still can't find the set up screen.

Any suggestions?

You need to have an IP address on your PC, try setting up a static IP address. When the 1525 is in AP mode, it's not handing out any IP addresses.

Go into System Preferences and select Networking. Select the Ethernet from the list on the left. After you select that, find the Advanced button bottom right area. Select it and you'll see button tabs on the top row, select TCP/IP. Theres a drop down button to the right of this window that says automatic DHCP or something like that. Select this drop down and select Manual IP addressing. This will open up the IP address fields to the left. Now you an input an IP address, can be anything, try using the same IP address that you probably saw before you selected manual. use the same subnet mask as well. You don't need Gateway.

Once that is done, apply the settings here and on the main preference window. Now you should have access to the DAP if your directly connected to it. Once your done, you'll need to go back in and set Networking for Automatic once more on the Mac.

Sorry, I'm quite stuck here.  Here's my current set up/approach

cable comes in to the room.  Ethernet cat6 cable to the cable modem.  Cat6 cable from cable modem to DIR655.  CAT6 cable from DIR655 to DAP-1525, and the DAP-1525 is set to be an Access Point at 2.5Ghz.  Mac connected to internet via wireless through DIR-655.

With this set up, I can 'see' both the DIR-655 and the DAP-1525 as wireless networks, and I can use the DAP-1525 signal to access the internet as well as the DIR-655.  When I move the DAP-1525 to the room at the other end of the house, and connect via the wireline adapter, I can see the DAP-1525 signal, but can't connect to the internet.

When I try to load the admin page for the DAP-1525 in either set up, however, it still won't load.

I've also tried connecting the DAP-1525 directly to the Mac with an ethernet cable, and still can't get to the admin page.

Need to make sure that you are actually connecting to the 1525 while in the same room as the 655 to be sure. If you can verify this and you are getting internet on the 1525 here, then move the DAP and test again with out the 655 radio being on. If you don't get any internet after you move it, then it means there is a loss of connection between the 1525, this power line adapter and the 655 router. I would review the powerline configuration and connection here.

When I try to load the admin page for the DAP-1525 in either set up, however, it still won't load.

I've also tried connecting the DAP-1525 directly to the Mac with an ethernet cable, and still can't get to the admin page.
