Is multi-cast used on the LAN side only or both LAN and WAN?  ??? I only thought it affected the LAN side.

Just tested it again and I still got d/c even with both boxes hard wired.  The 360 Slim automatically switches over to wired and disables wireless if you plug in an ethernet cable.

Looking at that xbox page again it says to use crossover cables which I dont have.

How about using a external switch in conjunction with the router? These are recommended.

I don't have a switch but I could buy one that is reliable and good quality lol

I did see a Cat6 Adapter that changes the cable to Crossover but its by startech.  Only thing is I only have 1 system using Cat6 and its my personal computer plus the cable isnt long enough to reach my other xbox lol

I would recommend getting a swtich to add on to the back of the router. This will clear up your issue. No need for cross over cables and adaptors.

Before Xbox Live came out, back when the first xbox was Launched we had LAN parties to play the original Halo. If we connected two xbox's only directly to each other it had to be a cross-over cable. If we used two or more Xbox's we used a switch or HUB and used regular ethernet cables.

Thats probably still the case between one vs one xbox. Just easier to use a switch or a hub now days.  ;)

Well ever since I gave up on System Link I finally got myself a deal on a 3 month Gold sub for only $10 :P

Anyways I still suffer from random Xbox Live D/cs but it can happen at random it seems to happen more often when both xboxes are on (btw both are now hard wired).  I'm wondering for the Gamefuel rules in the sticky should I still use the Xboxa/xboxb rules or just stick with the updated ones?  I'm wondering if that will even change anything.

You could try the old ones however I and other use the updated configuration and have multiple xboxes.

Maybe someone can review your router settings with you using teamviewer.

Still havent figured out the issue myself but I might have to try it with DNS relay on.

Afaik if the first Xbox is connected and then the 2nd Xbox comes online the 2nd one always gets booted off sooner or later but I can reconnect right away.  It might have to do with the router or my modem (Motorola SB5100) but I'm not sure which is the cause

Did any users have issues with an SB5100 with the DGL-4500?

Switched the Wireless mode back to Mixed G/N and the other xbox got booted off once wirelessly but so far so good no d/cs.  Only issue I seem to be having is connecting to a Party if its not my brother's xbox guess its the way the router prioritizes the network.
