You get the 4500 set up as an AP?

Nope already having issues with the Cisco modem :D  Wireless seems to be dropping but I suspect its heat related and has nothing to do with the settings.  My dad was complaining to me about it lol  Called up Shaw and their tech suggested I do a factory reset which of course made it work again.  After that I reloaded my saved settings but the only thing I changed back was making the SSID broadcast.  Other WiFI settings were 2.4 Ghz on a wide 40 Mhz channel using Wireless CHannel 11 and the Wide Channel is using 7.

If this modem keeps dropping the wireless I think I'm just gonna ask if they can give us the SB6121 or the SB6180 since the 4500 had 0 issues after you tweaked it lol

OK, keep us posted. I have the SB6180 now. Great modem. My ISP doesn't bond 8, yet, so I guess I'll wait for that. I would ask your ISP what bond they support before getting the 80.

You mean like the Channels? I think the Cisco DPC3825 only does 4 atm but I'm pretty sure they have one that can do 8.

Ugh the modem is starting to piss me off having so many Xbox live issues atm at one point I had a strict nat, now its moderate and the other xbox is Open nat.  All I've done is add port 53 to port triggering in addition to 88 and 3074.

Not too happy with this modem atm I almost tempted to ask a Shaw tech to reconfigure the modem into bridged mode.

Are there any other options like QoS? Ya, I would ask to get it bridged, if not then maybe a SB modem would be best.

There is QoS but its just a simple check box for now I've disabled the port triggering and only left UpNp after that I power cycled the modem but I haven't tested it again today.  I think resetting the device via browser was a bad idea since it had to relock onto the 4 channels and that probably messed with my port settings.

I can let you take a look with teamviewer when I have some time today.

Yeah the modem itself is terrible at UpNp it fails to support more than 1 console lol  If they did it right both xboxes would show Open Nat but unfortunately one is always open and the other one is moderate (this one gets d/c'd).

I would change out and get the SB 6121 modem man and use the 4500 as your router for gaming. You'll be happy.

Well a couple of minutes later I got d/ced but after retesting the connection it seems to be okay so far.  Turning off the firewall on the DGL-4500 might be a consideration later on but right now no need.

Its doing great had a chance to talk with a Tech in person today and I asked him about the modem itself and the broadband package they gave me.

So it seems like they won't offer me the SB series of modems cause they say it doesn't support the 50Mbps package (I'm calling BS cause the SB6100 series should be Docsis 3.0 compatible).  The only thing they can do for me is setup the modem as bridged mode that way I can use the DGL4500 but theres no need due to your crazy setup lol
