Title: Using DSL-2780 with TalkTalk broadband: Traffic Statistics
Post by: PJKHfd on January 07, 2013, 10:37:05 AM
Hello,

As per above I am using a DSL-2780 with TalkTalk broadband.

I log onto the router and navigate through the software as follows: Advanced > Status > Statistics.
No errors are showing APART FROM 75 wireless / receive errors which have accumulated over the past 2-weeks.

Despite experiencing a significant number of DSL and Internet "drop-outs" [which I have already escalated with TalkTalk] I was not aware of any issues with my wireless configuration. I thought this was the one thing that was working!

I would be grateful if someone could explain:
- The significance wireless / receive errors.
- Whether there is any remediation / mitigation I can be applying?

Thank you in anticipation.

Make sure the phone lines for the DSL are in good working condition and properly filtered. Ensure the ISP checks this physically with the phone lines.

For wireless you can try this:
Try single mode G or N or mixed G and N?
Channel Width set for Auto 20/40Mhz or try 20Mhz only.
Try setting a manual channel to a open or unused channel. 1, 6 or 11. 11 for single mode N if the channel is clear.
What security mode are you using? Preferred security is WPA-Personal. WPA2/AES Only. Some WiFi adapters don't support AES, so you might want to try TPIK only or Auto.
Any cordless house phones?
Any other WiFi routers in the area? Link> Use InSSIDer (http://www.metageek.net/) to find out. How many?

Wireless send and receive error are just reporting that some data packets have been reported in error due to either, wireless radio conditions, settings or environment conditions. Also having other 2.4Ghz WiFi or devices near by can effect and cause some interferences as well.
