Summary
Some common official supported D-Link product USB external drive support sizes. Not all products support the same size. It's not recommended to use USB HDD sizes beyond these supported sizes. However, the amount of the files in the storage does matter in how routers and the SharePort application loads the file list or process the files.
Suggested sizes below:
For travel and low end home routers: 250 GB
For mid-high end home routers: 500 GB~1Tb
If larger USB HDD sizes are needed beyond these sizes, we recommend installing the USB drive on a PC with a dedicated share, connect a USB to LAN converter to the USB drive or get into a NAS device.
