Title: SharePort Mobile App
Post by: network1027 on May 29, 2014, 07:31:59 AM
Android 4.1 Jelly Bean
DIR 626-L with latest firmware update

Hi  :)

I can't seem to manage to make work the SharePort Mobile app.
SharePort is working OK using the Web Access or the Windows File Browser,
both from Wan and Lan.
But the SharePort Keeps on giving me this message when I try to browse using the app :
"Can't connect to target router, please make sure the device that you connected and ip address is correct".

I know the IP is OK, because if I give a wrong IP, the app gives me a 'no device found' message.
I know the credentials are OK, because if I slightly change them, the app gives me  a 'wrong credentials' message.

I looked around, for maybe a checkbox to thick to allow wifi access to shareport, with no luck.

Does anybody had any luck managing to make this app function ?  :D

( Beside, the app doesn't seem to support neither IPv6, nor the use of the https port ).

Link>Welcome! (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=48135.0)

I recommend that you phone contact your regional D-Link support office and ask for help and information regarding this. We find that phone contact has better immediate results over using email.
Let us know how it goes please.

We encourage users to post there general location region information here in the forums. There are only technical reasons why we ask due to region differences, we need to know when FW and support information maybe needed, we can direct users to the correct regional D-Link web sites for correct FW and support information for there location. Please feel free to post this information when asked with out any problems regarding non forum use. The use of NA, EU or ME or EA works for stating general region locations with out having to be specific on exact location.

We maintain strict forum guidelines and policies here and any other non forum use or abuse is prohibited. Please review the Welcome thread for forum policy information.

Thank you.

All right, got it  :)

The SharePort Mobile App doesn't seem to support user passwords with special characters, and silently fails. It works OK with upper/lower cases letters+numbers ( tested up to 15 characters yet ).

And still doesn't seem to support the https port, nor ipv6.

Case solved FurryNutz  :)

PS : I finished my BlogPost over the DIR-626L NAS Functions and technologies, functionning, and security,
with network topologies examples :

any comment / correction is welcomed  :)

Glad you got it working. I'll keep this in mind about special characters.

Enjoy.  ;)

The blog idea is great and looks good. However can you generate a FAQ using same information for the forum? Just in case something happens that blog site, I'd like to have one here in the forums as well.

Also lets use SharePort and USB Media Services as nomenclature instead of NAS. The method of using USB on a router is not truly NAS as some features like log ins, LAN side credentials and connection methods are not considered true NAS as true NAS devices are mainly wired LAN cable devices that don't deal with any USB as there main connections. So lets get away from NAS as I don't want to confuse users on what this really is.

Lets generate a forum FAQ please. Let me know if you need any help.

Information you posted is great and I hope it will come in handy for future users....
