D-LINK DHP-1565
« on: March 21, 2016, 01:24:33 PM »

Hello, so I got a DHP-1565 Wireless N PowerLine Gigabit Router. The problem is that, the router is causing problems with Counter Strike: Global Offensive.
When I try to join a competitive game, it Auto-Disconnects me. Is there a special setting that it's needed to be done? I'm using the cable connected to my PC, and not through Wi-Fi. Also, it can't be from my internet connection because it's a 200mb/s connection which gives me speeds of up to 20-21mb/s and upload speeds pretty much close to that as well.

If I try to connect my internet cable directly to my PC and not to my Wi-Fi router, the game connects... I also tried the support forum on Steam but they couldn't help me yet... that's why I'm hoping someone here can. I really love D-Link products, this router is super fast, it's stylish, and does the job. I wouldn't want to have to change to TP-LINK or Tenda for some reason :( (I had a Tenda router before and the game worked with that without a problem, but I had to change it because it only had speeds of up to 150mb/s).

I should mention that this only happens to Counter Strike: Global Offensive and only on competitive games... Please help me :(

Link>Welcome!

  • What Hardware version is your router? Look at sticker under the router case.
  • Link>What Firmware version is currently loaded? Found on the routers web page under status.
  • What region are you located?

Internet Service Provider and Modem Configurations
  • What ISP Service do you have? Cable or DSL?
  • What ISP Modem Mfr. and model # do you have?
  • Is ISP Modem/Service using Dynamic or Static WAN IP addressing?
  • What ISP Modem service link speeds UP and Down do you have? Link> Speed Testing Sites
  • Check ISP MTU requirements, Cable is usually 1500, DSL is around 1492 down to 1472. Call the ISP and ask. Link>Checking MTU Values

You might try setting up a QoS rule for gaming:
Gaming and QoS for XBL

Is the DHP-1565 being used with PL devices as well?

Hardware Version:         DHP-1565A1
Firmware Version :     1.00 , 19, Jan, 2012
Region:                        I'm from Romania, (GMT+02:00) Bucharest

ISP Service:                  RCS&RDS - Cable
ISP Modem:                  I honestly don't have any idea. I live in an apartment building, the cable comes directly from outside into my apartment.

I'm using a Dynamic IP address. My current speed is - http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/5186894230
The MTU is 1452.

I don't think the XBL rules would apply to Steam platform

About the last think, what are PL devices?

PL=Power Line devices.

That kind of ISP speed, I would not expect the router to be a the cause. Ensure QoS is disabled and try disabling SPI packet inspection.

SPI packed inspection is disabled... and I disabled QoS as well, I will try a game in a few moments and hopefully won't have problems at all. I will get back with more info. Thank you so much for all the support :)

OK, so I just played a competitive game of Counter Strike: Global Offensive, it went smoothly, no problems and stuff, hopefully the next 2 - 3 games will be the same. If that's the case then it's fixed :D Thank you so much for your support, in case the problem comes back I will let you know. Until then, I wish you a really nice week :D Again, thank you for your support :D

Glad it worked and hope it keeps working. I presume disabling QoS was the key.

Enjoy.  ;)

Hello, I'm back, that was not the problem... Today it happened again, and I think I know why, my brother is playing in the other room, using the Wi-Fi... on another computer. Can I do something about that?

I think you would have to enable QoS and then set up a rule for him, giving a lower priority, say 200 using the OtherDevices rule example listed in the link I posted earlier. You may need to set up another one for you and put the priority at 128 or 100 or try 50. Any higher then that, you'll start to starve bandwidth to other devices.  :-\
