To All

This is NOT A NEW SUBJECT or TOPIC, But I would like to bring to an attention for those who might need it

I have been using DLINK DNS sharecenter for quite some time until now, and now owning a few of 323 and 4XX series.

Lately, we have called up the tech support regarding a VERY SIMPLE ISSUE
>>>>I HAVE FORGET THE GUI ADMIN PASSWORD<<<<

HARD RESET BUTTON at THE BACK of THE UNIT is the only choice to get it back to default, right?

and mine concern, WILL I LOST MY RAID and LOST MY DATA?? right??

So, we call for support and asked .....
Few calls has been made by us and spoke to few of them.....

Guess what ....
Everyone says WAIT, I search our database for .....??
huh? Google?

Then back to me and give me NO SOLUTIONS ......
EVERY ONE CLAIM by PRESSING THE HARD RESET, YOU LOST THE RAID SETTING
and I WAS ADVISE TO MAKE BACKUP BEFORE PRESSING.
Ya, ok .... I case I lost everything.
BUT .... 2 x 2TB RAID 0 is 3.6TB
Do you know how much time is needed to FTP 3.6TB over a 1Gbps LAN? I asked?
Nope, no one knows ..... well its going to takes hours I said.

and I asked, you sure by PRESSING THE MAGIC button, I WILL LOST EVERYTHING?
Sir, its better you make backup .... or some of them says YES, YOUR RAID WILL LOST
and one even says ... DONT KNOW .... huh???
Guess what ... I piss off, over the phone I told her ...
well mdm, PERHAPS YOU DONT EVEN KNOW YOUR PRODUCTS AT ALL
and I cut off the line ..... WTF! :'(

Well .... Since its a backup. we got our things in PC.
We couldnt be bother to do a backup, cause its going to take hell long time.

PRESS IT .... !! and here goes !!

Well,  ;) NOTHING LOST except the admin pass and IP has been reset !!! WTH !!!

I had tried many times after this experiences of resetting .... with RAID 0 RAID 1 and the Jxxx
IT WILL NOT RESET THE RAID SETTING PLEASE
All RAID WILL REMAIN IN PLACE, and ONLY THE ADMIN SETTING LIKE IP address and PASSWORD BACK TO DEFAULT!!!
NOTHING WILL CHANGE OR AFFECT THE RAID SETTING, and HARDDRIVE DONT LOST ANYTHING

Please, support side please UPDATE YOUR DATABASE or GOOGLE DATA PLEASE
DO NOT GIVE USER WRONG ANSWERS AND WASTING USER TIME

Hi yclee,

If you had asked on here we could have told you that all you would lose would be user settings and you would not have had all the problems you appeared to have.

Once a RAID array is setup doing a reset will not change it, although we (my company) always recommend that you have a backup of your data if you don't want to lose it (a RAID 0 will lose data if a disk has problems)  Too many people think that transferring their data to a NAS box and then deleting to original is making a backup - IT IS NOT since they still only have ONE copy of their data.  With that in mind I would urge you to backup the important data on your NAS for security.
