Remote Connect to another computer on the network
« on: January 15, 2008, 07:39:40 PM »

Hi all,

Would anyone know what changes I need to make in order to remotely connect to another pc on the same network ?

With my old smc g router, I would simply need to mstsc to 192.168.0.125, but that does not work with the dir-625. I also can't seem to ping the ip, without timing out.

Any help would be appreciated,
Thanks

If your IP scheme is sound, the router should not be messing with LAN side destination packets.

Make sure the Server machine has a static IP in the same range as the client machine, make sure you get ping working between those IP address. After getting ping to work verify that the service is running on the server.

Can the host and client both ping the router IP?,,,,just another sign you need to verify what their IP addresses are.
