DHCP address reservation problem
« on: February 28, 2016, 09:12:08 AM »

I have 10 devices connected to my DIR-600L router. I have reserved IP addresses for these devices from 192.168.0.100 to 192.168.0.109. I have also set DHCP IP Address Range from 192.168.0.100 to 192.168.0.109. My MAC address filtering is also on for these devices.

I have been using these settings for the past 6 months, but for the last 3 days a strange problem occurs. Sometimes, one of these devices are getting IP address not assigned/reserved for it, and therefore some other device is not getting any ip assigned to it. (e.g. 192.168.0.102 is reserved for Rajat-PC, but it is getting 192.168.0.107, and therefore Sayan-PC (which is reserved at 192.168.0.107) is not getting any ip assigned to it, so it can't access the internet. In Status > Wireless, it shows 0.0.0.0 against Sayan-PC's MAC address.)

I don't think Rajat-PC's problem because each time I restart the router, the device that is getting diff ip changes..

Decreasing the number of address reservation does not solve it.

Link>Welcome!

  • What Hardware version is your router? Look at sticker under the router case.
  • Link>What Firmware version is currently loaded? Found on the routers web page under status.
  • What region are you located?
  • Are you wired or wireless connected to the router?
  • Has a power cycle of the router and PCs or Factory Reset been performed?

I would do a factory reset, set up from scratch, don't set any limits on the DHCP IP address pool, use default settings. Set up IP address reservations for each PC first starting at 192.168.0.100. Save all settings and reboot the router and test. Be sure that static IP addresses are not on the PCs.

I did all that, still no luck..

But I have found the culprit.. It's actually the problem of Android devices.. Any android phone or tablet I connect to the router, they don't get the assigned IP address, instead picks a random ip.. Any other PC or Windows Phone or iPhone connect with the reserved IP, only these android devices ignores the rules..

I don't know, it must be a conflict between Android and dlink..

Does the Androids have IPv6 enabled? Try disabling any IPv6 on these devices.
Disable any IPv6 on the router as well or set for Local Connection only.
