Ping Spikes in COVR 1200
« on: December 16, 2020, 02:20:50 PM »

I have to COVR point in my home and my MacBookPro is connected to COVR point B. The distance form My MBP to the Cover Point is less than 2 meters. Also the distance from COVR point A to B is approximately 8 meters. I'm getting occasional high pings (> 150ms) form my MBP specially when entering a new address in my browser. My other devices including my Phone, TV, Google Homes and Smart Lights are getting extremely slow connections.

Following are some info I think might be helpful:

Router Details:
1. Model Name: COVR-C1200
2. Hardware Version: A1
3. Firmware Version: 1.08
4. Number of COVR points: 2
5. Distance between COVR points: ~8m
6. Number of connected clients: ~13

Connection Details for MacBook:
1. Frequency: 5GHz
2. Connected to: COVR point B
3. Distance to COVR point: < 2m
4. RSSI: ~ -40 dBm
5. Channel: 149
6. Ping result:
   --- 192.168.0.1 ping statistics ---
121 packets transmitted, 121 packets received, 0.0% packet loss
   round-trip min/avg/max/stddev = 1.987/10.715/167.737/24.474 ms

I need help to figure out how to get this resolved.

Thanks in advance!!

Welcome!

  • What region are you located?
  • Has a Factory Reset been performed?
  • Was the router working before any firmware updates?

Try moving the B points to 10Meters from the A point.

  • What region are you located?: I'm in South Asian region (Bangladesh)
  • Has a Factory Reset been performed?: Yes and it didn't help
  • Was the router working before any firmware updates?: I got the router last week and updated the firmware as soon as I got it. So, not sure about it

Try moving the B points to 10Meters or a bit farther from the A point.

What other devices do you have on the network?

Any wifi neighbors near by?
