Hello. I am new to the forum and admittedly a newbie when it comes to routers, IP addresses, and Subnet Masks. I am trying to get better wireless coverage in my 2.5 story house. I have a "user-owned" SBG6580 Motorola Cable Modem/Wireless Router combo unit. I would like to add a DIR-628 to it as an access point. Having an ethernet connection between the two units is not a problem. I have followed the instruction manual with the DIR-628 to set it up to work with another router, but it always fails. Once I log into it and change the IP address, I can no longer access it after it reboots. I have to go back & reset to factory defaults to attempt it again. Any advice on how to make this work?
Thanks.

- What Hardware version is your router? Look at sticker under the router case.
- Link>What Firmware (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=47512.0) version is currently loaded? Found on the routers web page under status.
- What region are you located?
Best way to use the 628 as a 2ndary AP is configure it using this method:

Thanks all! I got it working. I was doing everything correctly, but the key was not to reboot the router. It works great. Thanks for all the helpful info on this forum.
