Remote backups from DNS-320L to DNS-320 ?
« on: May 19, 2016, 05:19:00 AM »

Hi,
I've problems installing a remote backup from my DNS320L to DNS 320. (firmware 2.05)
What I did:
I installed SSH via fun plug on the DNS 320. Now SSH sessions from my Linux PC to the DNS 320 are working.
On the DNS 320L I first tried to set up a remote backup NAS to NAS using IP and admin password of the DNS 320. But SSH connection test and rsync test failed.
Next I tried to set up a remote backup from NAS to Linux using IP, name and password from admin of the DNS 320. Now SSH connection test worked but rsync test failed again. Same with user root of DNS 320.

Did someone established a working remote backup to the DNS 320?

TIA gve

We do it all the time without problems.

I think your problem is that you are using the admin password (which will not work) instead of the user/password.

The admin password is only used when you are setting up the NAS services and users.  Once you have users and associated passwords setup you use them to do actual work.

ok thanks, I will give it a try. I've set up now a 'local' backup from NAS1 to NAS2  that works so far.

hi Ivan,

I just tried that. I created the same users on both NAS with the same passwords. If I login as a user (not admin), the remote backup app  is not available.
How did ou managed the NAs to NAS backup for non admins?

TIA
