v1.04 Power Save Bug?
« on: February 08, 2008, 06:24:43 AM »

Upgraded from v1.03 (as shipped) to v1.04 the day the new firmware came out. As near as I can tell, the unit does not consistently enter power save mode (which I have set to 30 minutes). Sometimes both drives will spin down and the large power indicator around the power button will go dim as normal. However, other times I've noticed that the large power indicator stays at full intensity. After accessing the device from that state, the sound of one drive spinning up. I believe one of the two drives stays running (based on the power indicator and sound level of the unit) on an intermittent basis. Running two WD 750gb drives, WD7500AAKS in case you need that detail.

Thanks!

This seems to be a common occurance... I have the EXACT same behaviour from my unit. So does a friend of mine. Weird thing is, it seems to be completely random.

Also, once you access the 323 while its in this "fake" sleep mode, the next time it will go into sleep mode just fine. Realy weird... and annoying!

If you are using the print server you may have print jobs in the stuck queue. Using firmware 1.04 there has been a Clear Print queue job button added to the status page with can help in this case.

No printer attached or ever has been attached, so that's not the issue in my situation...

Not sure if I'm off base here - however, with the old firmware, when my unit would go to power save, it would completely shut down - lights and all.  I could watch it start back up as I accessed it.  However, now, the lights stay on, but I can hear the hard drives spin up when I access it and I can notice the delay while they spin up.

I am using it as a print server as well with no issues.

You might be mistaken - or you've got a different unit to most of us.

I've had mine over a year now and that means pre firmware 1.02 - and with every firmware since then, only one led goes out when in power save mode, the one that "back lights" the D-Link logo "button" the drive leds stay on, the network link led stays on - the network activity led will flash of course dependent on network activity.
