Enabling DHCP with PPoE
« on: December 03, 2017, 07:52:35 AM »

I brought this new router Dlink Dir850L.
My ISP provides me with a media folder that can be accessed by creating a shortcut on my PC. But for that it requires my router to enable DHCP along with PPoE
But there is no such option in this DIR 850L router. If I use DHCP connection then am not able to surf internet because my ISP provides PPoE internet connection .
Previously I was able to use both these on my old Tp-link router.
Any suggestion please ?

Link>Welcome!

  • What Hardware version is your router? Look at sticker under the router case.
  • Link>What Firmware version is currently loaded? Found on the routers web page under status.
  • What region are you located?

Internet Service Provider and Modem Configurations
  • What ISP Service do you have? Cable or DSL?
  • What ISP Modem Mfr. and model # do you have?

For Rev A models, check for PPPoE menu drop down option as seen here:

For Rev B models, check for PPPoE menu drop down option as seen here:

This doesn't make sense. The ISP is either PPPoE or Dynamic. Not sure how it can do both. Within PPPoE, you can have a dynamic connection (by default) or a Static.

How do you access the folder? Is it just a URL?

I can access folder by
Right Clicking on desktop (Windows)>new >shortcut
in the shortcut location I give address \\192.168.100.254 . Done.
But after switching to this DLINK router I am not able to access this address.

D-Link routers use 192.168.0.1 so try 192.168.0.254?
