Can't view full days recording
« on: April 12, 2016, 06:44:16 PM »

My DNR recorder is set up to record continually, and overwrite the hard drive when full. When I go to play back on my computer (Windows 7, IE 11) or my app (IOS) I only see a few hours of video. If I remove the hard drive and plug it into my computer I can view all the video for the full day with the HDD viewer. Here is the part I can't understand. If I assign a static IP address of 192.168.100.5 and the gateway as 192.168.100.1, I can view the full days video by logging into the DNR using the IP address. If I use this IP address the app, and my dlink account can not see the DNR 202. It seems I can only access the full days video from my LAN. My routers gateway is 192.168.0.1. If I check the box in the DNR settings for DHCP, the router will assign it an IP address of 192.168.0.xx, with the xx being an available number. With this assigned IP everything works on my app and my dlink account except the play back. I can only see a few hours of video. Is there any networking experts that can help me out? I have been in contact with dlink support who has been helpful, but can not solve the issue. Under their instruction I returned the unit and got a new one. The only reason I found out about the 192.168.100.5 working is because the new one for some reason had this as its default set up. It will work with the last number as 2 through 5 by the way. It just needs to be in the 182.168.100.1 Gateway. I am no networking expert, Google has been my friend lately learning about IP address. Thanks in advance.

Link>Welcome!

  • What Hardware version is your DNS? Look at the sticker behind or under the device.
  • Link>What Firmware version is currently loaded? Found on the DNSs web page under status.
  • What region are you located?
  • What ISP Modem Mfr. and model # do you have?
What Mfr and model is the main host router?

I have my 202L set up with a static IP address and I can get to it from WAN and LAN side with the NVR app and with the MDL services site. I'll have to see about looking at the full days video...I've just been recording and have the same continuous recording configuration as you do.

What is the routers DHCP pools range set for on the modem/router? 192.168.#.100 thru .200?
If so setting a static IP address out side of this range should work. This is how mine is set for. 192.168.#.202.
Possible that the handling of this modem/router could be affecting connections.

The pool is set for 10-255. I tried setting a static IP address 192.168.0.2, outside its pool range. I still had the same problem. I will try the port fowrading later today. If that does not work  I  think I have an old link systems router somewhere. I might try to add that router to the network and try to plunge the DNR into it. I am sure if it will help or not but worth a try.

Thanks

It is now. It was not before. After enabling it it worked one time. I was able to see all the videos. I logged out and back in, back to the same. I can see all of Today's videos up to the present time. Any other day I could sometimes see 10 hours of video, I go to a different and then back to the same day and instead of 10 hours I have 3 hours. I don't what is going on. Nothing is consistent unless I use that other Gateway setting of 192.168.100.

Can you set up a IP reservation for the 202L using the .100.# pool?

I can get it work with the following settings:
Static IP 192.168.0.2
Subnet mask 255.255.255.0
Gateway 192.168.0.1
DNS1 0.0.0.0
DNS2 0.0.0.0
Now I can not connect to my dlink account. After running the wizard it skips over the part where it asks for my dlink user name and password.

I think you need to set up DNS, either use the main host routers DNS address or actual ISP dns.

Is the 202L already reg'd with the MDL service?

I can not set up a DNS unless I pay. The DNR was on my account, but I deleted it. I reset it to factory default, and was able to link it to my account. I changed the network settings back to how I had it when it worked. Now I am back to my original problem. I am giving up. I spent too much time on it. The recorder works, I have a work around to see the recordings if I need to. I just can't view them remotely.

Thanks for all your help!

I think I finally solved this problem. I dug up an old lynk system router. I added it to my network going from a LAN port of the main router to the WAN port of the second router. Plugged the DL202L into a LAN port. I am now able to access all the recordings consistently. For some reason it does not like the Zoom modem/router.

Glad you got it working. Ya I don't put too much into ISP modem/router combo's. I prefer dedicated routers.

Enjoy.
