Title: Problem with DAP-1360 and 2WIRE 3800HGV-B
Post by: djbarker1 on January 22, 2012, 08:50:53 AM
I'm having a problem accessing the internet through my newly-purchased DAP-1360 and my AT&T UVerse supplied 2WIRE 3800HGV-B.

Specs:
------------------
DAP-1360
Rev: B1
Ver: 2.11
Repeater Mode

2Wire 3800HGV-B
Ver: 6.3.7.42-plus

I can walk through the DLink setup and successful pair the devices as a repeater using the push-button pairing option. I can see the DLink's MAC address in the 2Wire list of connected devices and I can see on the DLink that I'm getting an IP address from the 2Wire. I can also connect my devices (iPhone & iPad) to the DLink and can see their MAC addresses listed as connected devices in the DLink. I can also see that they are getting an IP address from the DLink. But I have no connectivity to the internet. Any ideas? Everything works fine if I unplug/unpower the DLink and move within range to my 2Wire - the iPhones/iPad get an IP address from the 2Wire at that point and work flawlessly. I really need the additional range that the Dlink provides but can't get anything to connect to the internet through it.

Can you get internet if you connect a device thru the 2wires wireless?

Is there any status/device info/Wan section on the DAP?

Yes - If I unplug the DLink and recycle my IP address range I can connect to the internet via the 2Wire just fine. When the DLink is connected, I can see in the status page that it is transmitting and receiving bytes - presumably to the 2Wire.

Something else that *seems* odd to me by may be "normal" is that once I go through the WPS wizard and everything is connected, my devices that connect to the Dlink get an address range of 192.168.(some large number).(some small number) and when I connect to the 2Wire I get 192.168.1.(some small number). So DHCP is assigning IPs, but they just *seem* odd to me. For example, my iPhone may be 192.168.94.2 via the Dlink and 192.168.1.4 when connected to the 2Wire. That third number seems odd, but there does not seem to be any way to configure it in the Dlink.

Your getting a 192.168.94.2 address? That should be a .0.2 address if anything. The DAP is acting as a repeater in this function so it should be passing any addresses from the Host router. I think. I'm wondering if some how the DAP is not getting the right address from the HOST wifi correctly. Default for the Dap should be 0.50 however when you connect your devices, it should have the same .0.something address.

Yes. I'm not sure if it is exactly ".94.2" but it is definitely not ".0.x" or ".1.x". The strange thing is that the DLink admin page is still reachable at 192.168.0.50 when directly connected to my PC and my 2Wire is still serving up 192.168.1.x addresses via DHCP to items directly connected to it.

What's weird is that there are probably millions of 2Wire boxes out there for AT&T and there must be thousands of people using the DAP-1360 to connect to them. Am I the only one with this problem? I'm not doing anything unusual. I'm using the defaults for the 2Wire and the Dlink and just running the wizard...

How about if you turn off the 2Wire wireless and run the 1360 as a AP instead of repeater mode?
