D-link DFL-210 problem with FTP
« on: November 03, 2017, 11:02:20 AM »

Hello,

I try to connect to a FTP server but I get this "Command not understood"

Is there something blocking the connection in firewall?

I have open port tcp source: 0-65535 and destination: 21

Link>Welcome!

  • What Hardware version is your DFL Look at sticker under the DFL case.
  • Link>What Firmware version is currently loaded? Found on theDFLs web page under status.
  • What region are you located?

Internet Service Provider and Modem Configurations
  • What ISP Service do you have? Cable or DSL?
  • What ISP Modem Mfr. and model # do you have?

How is the DFL wired with the ISP service? Directly to modem or ONT or thru a external router?

Is the FTP server behind the DFL and you are trying to access it from the Internet (not local)?

or are you trying to connect to a FTP server on the Internet from a computer on your local network connected to the DFL?

I'd also ensure that your not in a double NAT condition. Is your modem a modem/router combo?
Zyxel has modems that are combo units...
The modem should be bridged to the DFL if possible or use the DMZ on the modem for the DFLs IP address it gets from the modem/router combo unit...

I'm trying to connect to a FTP server located outside the domain and over internet. the client computer is in the local network, the same network as DFL

I'm not sure if the router is in bridge mode, I will check this out

The server may not support the MLSD command or a setting issue. Since you were able to log into the FTP server through the router, I do not believe the router would block retrieving the directory.

https://forum.filezilla-project.org/viewtopic.php?t=37295

If possible, test your client settings on a computer outside the DFL router to see if it is a server/setting issue.

I have tryed the connection outside the domain and is no issue when I try to connect with Fileilla from my home.

If I try to connect with File Explorer from the server (the server the FTP client is on) I have no issue to connect, but from FTP client I get the issue.

Is anti-virus scan enabled on your object/service that you created? Disabled it and see if it helps.

hmm it is strange. You are able to log in through the router. I am not sure why it would block or affect mlsd command.

ftp://ftp2.dlink.com/PRODUCTS/DFL-210/REVA/DFL-210_NETDEFEND_OS_USER_WIN_MANUAL_2.20_EN.PDF

Maybe remove any service you created and use what is in the manual (pages 144-145).
