Hi all,

Hoping someone can point me in the right direction. I have just installed  new DSL-2740B rev F1 with the latest 2.07 firmware.

I am having issues with the DNS server seemingly. When transferring files between devices or downloading torrent files my other devices lose connection to the router and internet, and the host device transferring loses connection to the internet, plus I get between 100k-300k transfer rates which is incredibly slow. A file that should take 20mins to transfer is taking upwards of 45mins and often fails at the end as the network loses the device I am transferring to.

Devices connected:
DNS-320 - wired
DNS-323 - wired
DSM-380 - wired
Xbox 360 Slim - wired
Notebook - wireless
iPhone4 - wireless

Just moved off a Netcomm NB6plus4W which had all of the current devices connected and did not suffer with the slow transfer rates, getting around 1MB plus all devices remained connected.

Have port forwarding set up for torrents and Xbox live.

Any suggestions on what I can try to reslove this?

You should consider getting a Gb external network switch to connect between the modem and all of your wired devices. This will help segregate your internet traffic from you local LAN side traffice which does not need to be managed by the modem.

Appreciate the feedback, and whilst I agree a gigabit switch would be ideal, this configuration should work, as there is not much traffic from the wired devices as only one is ever in use at one time, whilst one device might be surfing the net on wireless.

The other side is this exact configuration worked perfectly on the Netcomm modem/router 3 days ago which also had 4x 10/100 ports.

Logic would say this is an issue with the DSL-2740B.
