Missing IR Control Option
« on: September 07, 2017, 07:36:17 AM »

After setting up my 5030L, it's missing the Advanced tab, or perhaps the option I'm looking for is hidden elsewhere. I'm looking for the "IR Light Control" (output). I have a 5029L, it's located under the advanced tap. I am I missing this option or is it not included in this build? Can it be added if it's missing?

Unfortunately it looks like that feature has been removed.

That's really unfortunate, as that feature is extremely handy. I have several parts of the view in the night are being blown out. Is there a way to request this feature?

I agree. I wish it was available on all cameras.  I did send another request to the camera people so hopefully they will consider it as an option on new cameras and maybe add to older ones still in production.

Are you putting it in front of a window? Sometimes angling it can reduce the amount of glare but even putting black electrical tape over doesn't completely cover it.

But unless you have some lighting or a 3rd party IR illumination the camera won't pick up much in night mode. I am sure that is the reasoning of removing the option on home indoor cameras.

It's mounted upside down and tight to the wall. It has to sit the way it is to get proper angles, I get hazing and blow outs from the wall and a couple of other spots. I could try to make it work a little better with an extension or some adjusting, but it would become even more of an eye sore. So I may end up just taping off a few IR diodes... not ideal, but should help until they add it, if ever. Im not holding my breath, but I these are the things that annoy me when companies take away features that could easily stay in place.

I would just lock it to day mode. If you do not want to use the IR LEDs on the camera and you don't have any additional IR lighting outside, there is no reason to have the camera in night mode.

I need the night mode or ir lighting. So simply leaving it daymode isn’t the answer in my case. When you compare the previous camera (5029) the admin features are very limited. It also added in java for video, which I’m not sure if that’s an upgrade...seems like html5 video should have been utilized.

So if you need IR, on all the time, is the camera working with IR then?

The ONLY function switching from day mode to night mode is the IR cut filter. If you turn off the IR LEDs on the camera and have no other IR illumination, it is the same as day mode (other than looking black and white from the filter). So if you are not using any IR lighting, night mode is useless. Locking it to day mode is the same thing.
