same room? all at once? Single device? I presume thats not the max they can do?

Iphone 4 working on the 2.4

Lappie, Ipad3 on 5GHZ all 3 devices in the same room 4-6 ft from the router.

What's funny I ran SSID and it says the max rate is 216 on both the 5ghz & 2.4ghz. While the rest of the neighborhood I can see 300 to 450 max rates for there routers. Wonder if FW1.02 changed the max rate of this router???? The plot thickens  :o

What are the MAX rates for your devices? Are they achieving this rate on the router?

How many other WiFi routers are in your neighborhood?

No NONE of my devices are achieving there rates from the router. I have easily 12-15 wireless routers around the neighborhood.

With inSSIDer I am able to see the claimed output of ALL routers in the neighborhood including mine, this is analogous to broadcasting the wireless network name, instead it's showing a wireless MAX Speed of this router.

For instance I see a Linksys router broadcasting 450mps max speed and other apple airport extremes showing 300mps.

Strange this router is now showing after the FW 1.02 update 216mps max speed on inSSIDer, before the update it showed 450 as advertised on the box.

Perhaps the code writers can check into this and make sure it is correct on the new FW update.

Ok, need to see if you can isolate the router from all the others near by if you can. I would see if you can find another open channel if possible. That many routers near by, possible cause of connection speeds. I would test the router with one or two devices, preferably if you have a 2.4 and a 5Ghz device to see if you can get fast speeds on each radio. If you can't find a open channel. I might try to lower the out put of the radios from High to Medium and test to see what speeds your getting in a same room, say 4-6 feet line of sight to the router. Test speeds on each radio with the two devices. I might take the router to a different location if possible, say family or some place not in the same neighboring area with all those routers. You don't need a internet connection to test the wireless speeds with devices. Just would like to see if getting away from those other routers effects anything.

I'm might also go back to v1.00 and test as well, if you decide to try this, don't load any configurations, just factory reset, downgrade and factory reset once more then test the wifi with one or two devices.

Is this the only router you have?

Let us know how it goes.

Long day yesterday. After waking up early to sit inline for the Iphone 5, I was able to make a slight adjustment to the 5ghz channel and brought it down to ch 40. inSSIDer sees that I have no other router competition and no interference. I have both the lappie, ipad3 and now the iphone 5 connected to that 5ghz. The iphone 5 is instantaneous and snappy as well as the lappie. Haven't played with the ipad ..yet ;D

wonder if the 2.4Ghz is congested? Sounds like 5Ghz will be good.

Boy remember the days of plug and play and enjoy ;) Had some time this weekend, and suprisingly Linksys released another FW for the E4200 V1. Great to see that they still support their hardware. I installed the new FW 1.05 on the E4200 V1 and everything went smooth, even did a 30-30-30 reset before and after reconfiguring the router from scratch.
I reset both the DLINK and Linksys 5ghz to the highest channel 161 and rebooted both. I have the E4200 on the top shelf and ALL my devices are getting full strength. I will have to move the Dlink id located in the middle shelf and will move it to the top shelf soon so that it will give full strength ( I assume).

Thus far I have 2 routers running 2.4 & 5ghz simultaneously and the E4200 IS FAST. LOCATION, LOCATION LOCATION...it really does make a difference. ;D

4-5 ft apart linksys on top and DLINK on the bottom, plenty of space and no real interference..yet. Still testing but it appears to be working well ......so far  :D

Lappie is connected to the Linksys and Ipad3 is connected to the Dlink. both clients are whippin fast over the 5ghz. I am writing this on my lappie!!!!!!!!!!! ;)

I recommend put more distance in between those routers. Especially if they are running same freqs. Even though they might be running different channels, there will still be noise being that close together. Unless one is running only 2.4Ghz and the other is only running 5Ghz, proximity would be fine then, however if your running both radios on both routers, you might find issues with this. I have the 857 running both radios in my living room. down the hall way 15ft, in my bed room is my 5Ghz only AP. In the office next too the bed room is a 2.4Ghz only AP. And these are set up for medium power, not full on High.
