I wanted to remind everyone that when you do go ahead an install your new firmware on the DIR-890L (or L/R) that you remember to clear the cache of your web-browser.   I followed all of the rules of updating the firmware by using the following process:

http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=42457.0

but forgot to clear the browser cache.   Make sure that you don't!

What happens when the "browser cache" isn't cleared?

Here are some of the symptoms I've seen:
  • You may see that pages don't load up correctly, due to the new firmware's updated CSS Style Sheet conflicting with the old CSS Style Sheet cached in the browser.
  • You may also see a problem with your login page reloading after typing the password and trying to access even though you have used the correct password to log in.
  • The homepage may show the internet status disconnected icon although the connection is actually OK.

Mostly GUI issues rather than functionality issues.
