???
Is there ANY possibility to simply download the stuff?
One of my laptops refuses the connection since today.
It worked fine with the DIR-601 for one year. No new software
or programs installed lately. My other computers are connected.
Since more than 1 hour I try to find the software for the DIR-601.
Please somebody tell me what to do to download with another machine
so I could transfer the software via a USB stick. Thank you very much.
Wolfgang
Addition: After having moved my office to another room I finally FOUND the CD-ROM.
Unfortunately the thing ain't working:
It keeps telling me on the affected laptop I must remove the CD-ROM and
run it on another computer that is connected to the Internet.
This is NOT helpful because my other computers refuse to re-install the router.
Now I am definitely lost in time and space.

What operating system are you running on your computers?
I would try uninstalling/deleting the network connections and start over if you haven't tried that yet.
You may have to reset the router to factory settings and start over, too.

Thank you Kargo, I'll try that later.
Vista is on the malfunctioning laptop; on my other laptop I run 7.
My desktops feature 98, 2000, Vista and 7.

OK, good deal. I've cleared my network settings before just to keep things simple. I don't honestly know that it makes a difference but if they're corrupted it's an easy fix.
Try that first and then if it's still not working, try a router reset to factory.

Just FYI, you can set up the router using the routers web page at 192.168.0.1.

This.
My bad, I thought this was understood and that Charleston just preferred to use the CD.

Thank you Furry and Kargo!
I cleared every bit of the router's files etc. As mandated by D-Link's screen during setup I connected that laptop to the Internet via a cable because it refused and still refuses to work wirelessly. Router setup took quite a while.
{Cable - does not make any sense to me.}
Everything worked fine, but when I UNPLUGGED the cable & hoped that now the wireless connection would work - nothing, nada, zilch, nix.
I'm back where I started: no wireless Internet connection, duh. And it had worked nicely for over a year. That's what I bought the 601 for: WIRELESS Internet connection!!!
It happened all of a sudden, the malfunction I mean, that the thing didn't and doesn't want to cooperate wirelessly anymore.
Even though I work with and against computers since 1967 - this here problem I can NOT resolve.
It might have to do with the laptop itself . . .
But I give 192.168.0.1 and 192.168.1.1 a try. I'll let you know.
Help will be more than appreciated folks! Thank you in advance.

Might have someone review your router settings with you using teamviewer.com.

The problem lies in the laptop itself. I finally got it connected with one of these dingelings in a USB port.
Thanks for all your ideas!

dingelings ???

@Furry: Dong or whatever the name is; it is a tiny thing being put into a USB port so the computer will be able to get connected wirelessly.
teamviewer.com: nice idea, but without Internet connection - useless. Thanks though. Prosit and cheers!

Ah gotcha, USB dongle. Glad thats working now.

Thanks Furry ;D
