Can't get wireless to work on HP laptop
« on: March 11, 2009, 02:50:27 PM »

Got a WBR2310 last week to get wireless internet on our HP laptop. Our ISP is wireless as we are out in the country and can't get anything other than dial-up. The router is stock with no setting changes (but have tried a bunch with no go) and can not get the internet. The wired PC works fine (internet works fine) and can log into the router but the laptop says it is connected but no internet. Our ISP said to use DHCP and that is indeed turned on in the router but nothing. The internet settings on the XP laptop is set to "dial whenever a network connection is not present". I even deleted the dial-up connection so it had no choice but to connect to the network connection. The router is currently set to the factory defaults but once we get the wireless to work, the login and security will be changed. There are no other houses around us to worry about people stealing our internet.

Any help is greatly needed.

Try setting your router to PPPoE because you said you usually connect using a dialer. Type in the username and password in the router and disable the dialer of your computer and see if it works. and you can also try this one, setup your router for DHCP and change the IP address of the router because it might be conflicting with the IP address of your ISP.
