MyDlink on Mac
« on: December 20, 2013, 07:45:34 PM »

Does anyone have recommendations on accessing MyDlink on Mac?
I run 10.9.1 and have tried safari, firefox, and chrome.  Chrome is a complete bust.

The others keep asking for JRE even though i've installed the latest, Version 7 Update 45.  It verifies fine on java.com.  "Just says The Java Runtime Environment cannot be found"

Any thoughts?  Have people found a setup that works?

I had the same problem and fixed it by enabling java in my safari browser. The only thing i still cannot access is my dnr. Here is a snippet from the java website on how to do this:

Firefox

Start Mozilla Firefox browser or restart it if it is already runningAt the top of the browser, select the Firefox button (or Tools menu in Windows XP), then Add-onsThe Add-ons Manager tab will open.In the Add-ons Manager tab, select PluginsClick Java (TM) Platform plugin to select itClick on the Enable button (if the button says Disable, Java is already enabled)

Safari

Launch Safari browserClick on Safari and select PreferencesClick on the SecuritytabCheck (select) Enable Java check boxClose Safari Preferences window

MyDlink website works like a charm on my mac under Maverick and using Safari. Java need to be installed.
The only issue I noticed is when connecting directly to the camera from the LAN (for example when accessing "advanced settings"). By default the connection is https based; in this case, it is not possible to have java working properly. Switching to http will solve the issue and enable to view live video (java mode) and configure motion detection (this is acceptable since my LAN is not "open").
So far... so good.

arlomiller, dunno if you've found the solution or not, but I went to the Oracle Java site and downloaded and installed the latest java they advise there. I can now access my MyDlink cameras.
