I was running pretty good with 1.21 beta 08 in 5ghz wireless N mode only.  I think I went over a week without any drops. The 5ghz was slow at times, but seemed to do okay. I've been running 1.22 beta 02 and just updated to 03 this morning. I restored factory default settings and just set up my basic wpa security. I've had nothing but problems with 1.22 so far. I don't want to go back to 1.21 beta 08 either because I have to run it in N only. I have a laptop, psp, and wii that all run on wireless. My PS3 is wired and that works great. The laptop is N, but that's it. I hate the fact that I have to use certain settings to make this router work correctly. I should be able to use whatever settings I want and not have to worry about the drops. Is there a reason why dlink won't allow users to use older firmware? It make no sense. It's a chip, all it needs is flashed. So dumb. Also why can't dlink send a firmware update out that allows this router to run simultaneous dual band. Wouldn't that also just have something to do with flashing the chip?

Please get this router running correctly before sending or rushing a final release of a firmware out. I shouldn't have to manipulate my router to make it run correctly.

"Note: This firmware does not allow downgrading to pre-1.2x. Please save your configuration file before the upgrade. After the upgrade, please reset to factory default, then upload the configuration file image."

Taken directly from Sesca's release post, i've personally noticed it helps to restore to factory defaults and reload a saved config file after firmware upgrades, same goes for other routers, and for DD-WRT.

I agree, I updated today. V1.22 B03 seems pretty good wireless N mode only on 2.4Ghz. If I used 5.Ghz, I get more errors and drops while in the living room. So keeping 2.4Ghz as default from now on. Will check out wired a bit later on.

FW update, Factory Reset, then re-apply saved config file.

Upgraded a few minutes ago, so far so good, the web interface seems more responsive, but it could just be me.  ???

No reboots, no noticeable problems so far, N only 5GHz, 2 Laptops, one in the same room, the other is mobile, and moves between one and two floors above the router, which is reason for the high error/packets dropped count.

Firmware Version :  1.22NA,  2010/01/19
Connection Up Time :  1 Day 1 Hour 56 Min 42 Sec  (I have never had this router reboot on it's own on any firmware)

any noticeable differences to 02 in this beta? i'm happy with 02 at the moment. i probably wouldn't do another upgrade unless it's a big improvement in performance.

I have no idea why it does this.  But whenever I am on my laptop, and using wireless with Skype it causes the router to reset.  This is at default settings too.

Seems to be okay when it's close by, but any range and it restarts.

I'll do a bit more testing.

What FW and HW version are you on? Also what Wireless mode are you using. I agree, the default settings for the 4500 should NOT be rebooting it while online with Skype. Does it do this with any other IM application by chance?

Everything seems more responsive with this FW. I'm on A1 hardware.

I'm still getting dropped packets on wireless but not as many as when I was on the prior 2 beta builds. I did start from scratch with this FW upgrade and didn't upload any config files.

Good to hear. Yes I go get some dropped packets however the errors are way down. I haven't been disconnected over WiFi in a long time, since using Beta 08. I'm on 2.4Ghz N mode only. I presume G mode only would probably have less errors and dropped packets possibly.
