DIR-865L and DCS-930L issues
« on: January 08, 2015, 11:31:31 AM »

Hello guys,

I have had my DCS-930L for a long time but it was never opened as I got it as a gift and never used it. Until now that is.

I am trying to set it up, but it keeps giving me the message "No internet connection could be found"

I have DIR-865L router that is connected to a modem. I do not have a Static IP on the modem itself. Not sure if that may be the cause.

Currently DHCP and UPNP are both disabled on the router. I have tried both on, both off, DHCP off upnp On. All the same message.

I have tried WPS as well as Ethernet Setup - same result.

I have found some info that I can pre-set the camera IP address in the router manually but I cant see to find how to do it on my router?

Anyone else had this problem? If I select Intranet only - it all works until i try to access it from outside the network.

Also, how do I look up all the devices that are currently connected to my router? I am looking at "Status > Device Info" but it only shows my laptop. I also have printer and the wifi camera connected but they are not displayed?

EDIT:

Under the Status > Wireless i can see the MAC address for all the network devices that are connected, no IP addresses for any of them though. My MAC address for camera is F0:7D:68:08:96:EF. When I go run terminal command arp -a in CMD, I dont see this MAC address. I can see my printers and etc but not the camera IP.

Can you please help?

Thanks!

Link>Welcome!

  • Link>What Firmware version is currently loaded? Found on the routers web page under status.
  • What region are you located?

Internet Service Provider and Modem Configurations
  • What ISP Service do you have? Cable or DSL?
  • What ISP Modem Mfr. and model # do you have?

Router and Wired Configurations
Some things to try: - Log into the routers web page at 192.168.0.1. Use IE, Opera or FF to manage the router. Besure to log into the Admin account on the router.
  • Turn off Advanced DNS Services if you have this option under Setup/Internet/Manual or under Setup/PARENTAL CONTROL/Set to>None: Static IP or Obtain Automatically From ISP.
  • Enable or Disable Use Unicasting (compatibility for some ISP DHCP Servers) and test under Setup/Internet/Manual. Disable may help with speed performance on higher speed ISP services.
  • Turn on DNS Relay  under Setup/Networking. Link>Finding Faster DNS Addresses using Name Bench and input new DNS addresses under Setup/Internet/Manual.
  • Setup DHCP reserved IP addresses for all devices ON the router. Setup/Networking. This ensures each devices gets its own IP address when turned on and connected, eliminates IP address conflicts and helps in troubleshooting and maintain consistency for applications that need to connect as well as mapped drives. Or you can avoid using a reserved IP address on the DCS and use a staic IP address on the camera itself. If you choose static, you'll need to configure the IP address using the cameras web page. I have a DCS-933L and have it set for 192.168.0.93.
