« on: November 18, 2008, 06:44:58 AM »

In regards to my home networking using dlink 615 router using 3 pcs on the network all can connect to the internet ok. Pc1 where the router is connected can view/ share Pc 2 and Pc 3 files ok. But pc 2 or 3 can not access pc 1 files. Have set up file sharing on pc 1. I get an error message on pc2 and 3 when try to access files on pc 1. error messages reads:
files is not assessable you might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permission.
Any ideas?

yea, checked all firewalls disabled windows firewall checked uninstalled virus checker firewall rules. The only thing I'm not sure about firewall settings in d-link Dir 615 wireless router.
The other thing PC2 and PC3 are wireless, but PC1 connects directly to the router.

The DIR-615 router does not have any settings to "disrupt" the filesharing between all LAN PCs.

You need to :

1) Have all PCs on the same workgroup

2) Check and configure each PC's firewall software access so as to permit File / Printer sharing.

3) Check and change all anti-virus software configuration to permit NetBIOS Name Resolution.  This can also be known as Internet Worm Protection

thanks Lycan and smlunatick

I know items one and two are fine.

Can see all pc under mshome group, So thats fine.
Pc2 and 3 can print to the printer that is conneted to pc1, so thats fine.
pc1 can send files to pc 2 and 3 ok so thats fine.

I did uninstall antivius from pc1 and it didnt change but it may not have fully uninstalled

We run all the same antivirus on all three pcs but im not sure how to change for configuration to permit NetBIOS Name Resolution.  This can also be known as Internet Worm Protection.

I only run a AntiVirus plus AntiSpyware program.
