Title: MyDLINK: How does the app actually work?????????????????????????????????????????
Post by: BAMoh on May 07, 2017, 01:51:56 AM
Per mydlink:
• No router port forwarding or dynamic DNS required if your uPnP is enabled on your router

Can someone knowledgeable explain exactly how the mydlink app works as I want to understand it well while troubshooting remote access denial?
So it does not require dynamic DNS or portfowarding but how is it that one can still theoretically view and pan their camera?
Thanks in advance.

There was a decent explanation but they did not give away 'details'.  I can not find that post.  I think it was by the one forum admin who left last year or early this year.

I saw in an older user manual that you could access mydlink.com/camera# (or something like that).  That no longer works and of course is a big security no-no for all practical purposes.
